Default Breaking News: Victory Poker moving all players to Cake Poker

Victory Poker, which burst on the scene last year to much fanfare (including a GPWA Times Magazine cover), announced today via CEO Dan Fleyshman that it is moving its entire player base to Cake Poker. Victory Poker will continue as a strategy and news affiliate site.

Fleyshman also posted this on his Facebook account:

I've decided to transfer the Victory Poker international player base over to CAKE Poker to manage.

The brand will continue doing strategy, news, videos as an affiliate site.

I will be focusing much more on my upcoming charity, consulting other companies & helping with Victory marketing.

Casino City's Aaron Todd has a quick write-up of today's news:

After a little more than a year in the online poker business, and just over a month after deciding to leave the U.S. market in the wake of the indictment of the owners of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker, Victory Poker CEO Dan Fleyshman has decided to fold his online poker room and convert his site to an affiliate site for Cake Poker.

Victory Poker players received an e-mail on Tuesday announcing that their accounts would become Cake Poker accounts as of June 1, and all funds, Gold Cards and Gold Chips and tournament tickets will be transferred.

"The brand will continue doing strategy, news (and) videos as an affiliate site," Fleyshman posted on his Facebook page. "I will be focusing much more on my upcoming charity, consulting other companies and helping with Victory marketing."

It was a turbulent ride for the startup, which opened with a large team of pros, including Antonio Esfandiari. While Fleyshman put plenty of marketing dollars behind the business, it struggled to build momentum on the tiny Everleaf Poker Network.

Fleyshman decided to move the room to the Cake Poker Network in an attempt to capitalize on the higher player liquidity levels Cake offered. And rumors (later verified by Fleyshman) indicated that Victory was planning on moving to the CEREUS Network prior to the announced indictments. Three days after those indictments were released, Fleyshman migrated all his U.S. players to Cake.

"The second I heard that the government was crushing the top three, I blocked U.S. players for Victory," Fleyshman told Casino City at the time.

Cake Poker is offering Victory Poker players a 100 percent reload bonus, and players who had not made a real money deposit on Victory Poker are eligible for a 110 percent signup bonus and a ticket to a $500 depositor's freeroll.
