Question Buzzer App - Why did it shut down?

I was excited at the prospect of watching just the portions of games that I had money riding on (also excited at the potential to get unique bonuses and offers).

This has lead me to wonder why the app was pulled before it had full functionality. Does anybody happen to know the scoop?

per an article I came across, the CEO is stated as saying:

‘As of today and with a heavy heart, we are formally winding down our operations. Recent fundraising developments and market dynamics have informed this outcome despite our very best efforts to continue building Buzzer.’

I also saw that they had raised $44,000,000. What ‘market dynamics’ lead them to shut down? Regulatory hurdles? Competition? Streaming rights?

Super interested to hear what you think.

Simple, they wanted to focus on licensing the access to their data (with an api) for other developers, or possibly site operators etc.

Mobile-focused sports streaming platform Buzzer will stop supporting its consumer app as it pivots to become a technology provider for leagues, teams and networks broadcasting directly to fans.
with the latest round being used to commercialise ‘Powered by Buzzer’. The licensed offering will provide Application Programme Interface (API) licensing, custom development and consulting services.
Guessing they likely had gotten a lot of feedback by leagues and large publishers, that expressed interested in licensing the data.

They don't mention it, but I could see where the api could possibly be a benefit to some of the books themselves to develop or enhance in game betting, especially those still in development stages.

This may lead to other third parties building apps using their data that might have similar functions you used as a consumer of the product.

What did they spend $44 million on? That is why they went out of business.
