Well BF are moving thier exchange licence from the UK to Gibraltar. Nicly avoiding tax and legal scrutiny in one go:
This email is to inform you that Betfair has taken the decision to restructure the licensing of its UK business. The changes will not impact your betting experience or the features available to you.

With effect from 00.01 on March 9th a new set of Terms and Conditions applies to the placement of Betfair exchange bets by you. These new terms will be available to view at Betfair.com from the above time.

After the above change comes into effect, any further use of our site, or services relating to it, will constitute acceptance of the new Terms and Conditions by you.

This change means that from the above time, you will be contracting with a licensed betting operator (TSE (Gibraltar) LP) within the Betfair group which is based in Gibraltar, and not Betfair Ltd, as was the case before. TSE (Gibraltar) LP's activities will be governed by Gibraltar gambling regulations.

The provision of helpdesk, payments and other services will be unaffected.

Thank you for your continued custom which is important to us.

    Sincerely,
    The Betfair Team"

LEADING betting exchange Betfair will operate under a Gibraltar licence from Wednesday, meaning the firm will escape a 15 per cent tax on gross betting profits, which they had been paying under their UK licence.

Betfair, which floated on the London Stock Exchange in October, released the news viaa trading update, which reported overall core Betfair revenue up 6.2 per cent to 77 million for the three-month period ended January 31.

David Yu: "move provides increased flexibility"

The move is expected to save Betfair 18.5m a year and chief executive David Yu said on Tuesday: "As a global, technology-led betting operator, our new operational base in Ireland and the change to our licensing structure provides us with increased flexibility.

Not put an update here for a while. Getting very close to the court case being heard.

With the evidence I have (and the evidence that BF have provided) I am advised I stand an extremely good chance of the judge ruling in my favour. (Well my solicitor would say that, wouldn't he!)

If I was to win this case (basically that I did not breach any terms and condition of the promo), what do you think the impact to BF would be?

At best they would have to remove or amend clause 22 of their T&Cs (ie the FU clause that says we can deem you abusive and remove your funds if we wish)

But what about the wider gambling community? Do you think it would spawn a raft of other claims? Would it actually hurt BF?

This thread is now one year old, and still no response from Betfair.

BFs tatic was to bury this along with anyone who tried to fight it.

There may well be others out there still taking them to court.

I have now moved on and have made a total exit from the gambling world. (Not because of BF, but because of other factors.)

Yes, and it certainly seems to have worked for them. One year later, no response, no repercussions.

    Well done us affiliates.

Maybe. I think there were some costs associated with the shovel used to do the burying...

I am quite surprised that Betfair seem to be so unpopular!!!!

I thought Betfair was one of the best gambling portals around and so i have been really trying to promote the 25 Betfair sign up bonus Betfair are presently offering new customers when they use the 25 Betfair promotion code but i think i will have to consider concentrating my efforts on promoting a top bookmaker after reading about Betfair on the forum.

I can't comment on how they've treated their affiliates, but their treatment of customers has been a mix between incompetence and out-right roguery to cover their incompetence.

Well i personally have had a Betfair account for about 10 years and to be honest i have never had any problems.

But it is quite worrying to read about how Betfair treat some of their customers and you would not expect that from one of the biggest gambling portals in the world.

As an affiliate of Betfair i have had no problems either (touch wood) but i have read about a few affiliates on the forums who have had major disputes with Betfair.
