The US is heading into an economical crisis. Due to the high cost of living - things like oil and gas - and other factors consumers are not spending. Coupled with the sub prime mortgage crisis things are looking bleak. This affects everyone globally as the banks are unable to declare their worth due to credit defaults and forclosures.

Perhaps an US online gambling tax may have helped after all.

Yet another point in a seemingly inexhaustible list of reasons in favour of legalizing and regulating online gambling!

The U.S. should be digging deep to find new ways to bring in money, yet billions of taxable dollars generated in online gaming rooms remain untapped.

Bringing in more money would not help as long as the habit remains to spend more than one has. There lies the source of the crisis.

Of course it is a crisis.
We are living in an over valued world thanks to the very suspicious money in mortgages (not only in the US), the price of the oil due to the wars in Irak etc, and the high prices of the grains due to the droughts.
    An explosive cocktail....

Not to trivialize the situation but maybe the U.S has traded too much gold for blood. Just one B2 bomber costs 2.2 billion dollars, yikes! One was shot down a few years back over Bosnia. The U.S military might is already twenty years ahead of its time.

Take the F-15 Eagle price tag 50 million. Still state of the art fighter slated for retirement this year. Its going to be replaced by the F-22 Raptor, price tag 330 million/plane.

But then again can’t blame the U.S for taking such drastic measures either.
