CAP Traffic and Alexa Reach Plummets

For the first time, in a very long time, CAPs

2. Rank
3. PageViews

in Alexa has remained low and not bounced back. Over the past 18 months, one or two of the categories would drop down for a week, before correcting and bouncing back up to where it should be ranked.

Looking over the data for the past 18 months - this is the lowest CAP has been for for a full month.

Over the past 12 months, there has been a changing of the guard in which casino affiliate forum receives the most traffic.

In August 2008, GPWA over took CAP in traffic rank, and page views. What does this mean? GPWA has more unique visits on average over a month then CAP. It also looks like GPWA is still growing in traffic size.

CAPs current traffic rank is : <!--Alexa offers this data programmatically. Visit http://aws.amazon.com/awis for more information about the Alexa Web Information Service.-->69,927 - over the past month the traffic rank has been under 100K, with the last couple of weeks being ~300K. At this rate, and in 3 months, if CAP maintains this current rate in loss of traffic, CAP traffic will be out of the 100K's and will rank between 150-190K.

GPWAs current traffic rank is : 31,644 - Over the last few months, GPWA rank has spiked into the high 19,000's. If GPWA maintains its current growth rate, and CAP maintains its current rank position, GPWA will be receiving three times as much traffic as CAP. At the moment GPWA receives twice as much traffic.


Interesting to note as well :

Since CAP has been dropping ranks and reach, over the past 1-2 weeks Casino Affiliate Programs has had the same amount of traffic as Affiliate Guard Dog - and maintaining it!

This suggests that Affiliate Guard Dog, maybe be receiving a lot of traffic to other parts of its website then his forum.

Alexa is a misnomer and is not to be relied upon. The only people I know who have the alexa toolbar installed are webmasters. I no longer use it and haven't for years. IMO alexa rankings are as beneficial as google page rank.

Generally what you say is true, and so for less popular sites Alexa ranks are not that meaningful. And certainly it is incorrect to compare consumer oriented sites with webmaster oriented sites. However, in terms of comparing the GPWA and CAP I think they are actually pretty interesting statistics since both sites have a primary audience of webmasters.

Folks go where the drama is. Not everyone is looking for the drama, but I'd say that it had something to do with that. There were not a lot of post regarding this at CAP during that time.

JMO on it. I know for a fact then when crap is being posted about GamTrak that my stats shoot thru the roof, but it's mainly the same IP's over and over again.

You are probably correct in saying that the Effective Media / Card Spike / Absolute Slots issue has increased GPWA's traffic while CAP wasn't as active in the past 30-45 days. Yikes mid feb already!

It's long term effects will be interesting.

I THINK the increase in other forum traffic is that many affiliates have stopped posting much in CAP and have not visited as often-myself included.

I know that the increase in traffic at AGD has nothing to do with Cardspike, Effective Media, or any of that stuff. We aren't discussing much of it there

Maybe if you add all the posts of all the banned members and divide it by 3 and then subtract 34 but then use the square root of a batman symbol plus add 3.14...you may get the proper stats for CAP. Its more reliable to do it that way than to take the word of Alexa's stats IMO

No wonder Robin. Because of the banning frenzy at the CAP forum, the entire discussion took place elsewhere and it is always difficult to get people back afterwards.
