Default Cash or gadgets as promotions

Hi, the upcoming Budapest event is coming along and I guess a lot of the operators are planing their promotions.

So I am wondering if you affiliates can select.

Do you want money in affiliate account as a prize or gadget like LCD TV, Wii, MP3 players etc?

    Cheers

Cash is always nice - but I find it just goes into the pot and gets spent...

I have to admit I'm a sucker for vacations... And for those that dont want the trip (or whatever prize you offer, there could be a cash equivalent.

Gadgets are nice. It's nice to offer the cash equivalent in case someone (like me) already has an itouch etc.

On a side note I used to like it when a merchant program would offer it's players prizes and promotions because it makes it easier to promote. I would get a lot of lateral traffic fro "TV, LCD" when offering a new TV.

so.. my vote is gadgets with cash equivalent option.

Gadgets or an experience - Of course people love cash but its like when my granny gave me money at Christmas it just gets spent down the pub and otehr places which means I have nothing to show for it - If you get a gadget or experience you will always associate that brand with that which will help you as well in terms of justification

Just a thought, however, from my experience in sales over the last thirty years the best incentive competitions have been slightly different. The ones that always get most perticipation are the ones that offer everyone a chance.

For instance when a sales man for a double glazing company years ago, i was the average joe and each quarter there was some top prize or other. Now i knew i would never win it so never get in to top gear to try to win it.

Then one quarter (xmas quarter) they decided to make the competition slightly different and awarded tickets for sales, then made a draw of all tickets for all of the prizes on offer. Now this made me and a lot more of the sales guys try to win because we had a chance to win the Car! Remarkably the guy who won each time for previous quarters did not hold the most tickets, that was me. I had gone from mediocre to top salesman more or less overnight because i saw the chance of winning. Ironically the ex top guy won the car, however, the companys sales went up by some 40% because of this change in sales competition.

I ended up as regional sales manager for that company and broke every record they ever had. Those records still stand, all because of a change in the way they ran their competition.

So the point i am trying to make is this, smaller affiliates will not try to win your competition because the super affiliates will in the main win. This must surely mean that any competition that is run will only really attract the best of your affiliates.

So my suggestion is that a competition designed to give all a chance may prove to be more successfull for any program, regardless of the prize. 10,000 people fighting it out to win your top prize, whatever it may be would surely attract more business for you than just the 100 or so super affiliates battling for it.

Perhaps i am talking complete rubbish but maybe there is some sense in it.

Certainly for me it would be gadgets, things like iPhones, Ipods or even Igoggles, I think it is important to offer something of value that people want, I know everyone wants cash, but those so called "Toys For Boys" that are classed as a luxury non-essential item certainly gets my interest

    I voted Gadgets.
I don't know why really - I spend almost my whole life in front of a PC - no time for other things!

But then, I did win a Wii from those very nice BetFair people in Amsterdam!
