Last June, we ran a poll asking members Do you currently participate in the Canadian affiliate market? Since then, Ontario's regulated online gaming market has continued to grow, and Alberta officially launched its own regulated market on Monday, July 13. With two provinces now operating competitive regulated online gaming markets, this seems like a good time to revisit the subject.
For affiliates, Alberta's launch is significant not simply because another province has introduced a regulated online gaming market, but because it further expands the overall Canadian opportunity. Some affiliates may decide the continued growth of Canada's regulated market justifies increasing their focus on Canadian players, while others may determine that other markets continue to offer a better return on their time and resources.
For readers looking to learn more about Alberta's new market, this week's GPWA newsletter also features Dan Ippolito's article, Top 10 facts about Alberta's iGaming launch.
For this week's poll, I ask: Has the growth of Canada's regulated online gaming market changed your plans?
After casting your vote, please tell us what factors influenced your decision. Has the continued growth of Canada's regulated online gaming market made it a more attractive opportunity for your business? What role, if any, does Alberta's launch play in your plans? If your plans have changed, what changes are you making or considering?
Speaking for Casino City, we have not yet begun targeting Canada because I felt there was additional development work we should undertake to properly support Canada's regulated online gaming market. The expansion of Canada's regulated online gaming market to include both Alberta and Ontario provides additional justification for making that investment.
