Catch 22
I have been reading alot around the SEO forums just to kind of grasp what has happened to my traffic. Anyway a few of them keep mentioning to me that I need one way links, not exchanges.
So here is what I call the circle, .
I can either
write some articles and......
a) publish them on my site and distribute (with links) which means that if I am not mistaken I can get nailed for duplicate content whether I am the original publisher or not.
b) not publish them but offer them free with backlinks to my site and wind up giving my competitor a leg up if he/she optimizes well enough for it.
c) purchase links and have the possibility of google not counting them as they were paid and/or penalize me for it.
These are the options taht I see in which case each has it's own recourse of action.
Do you all take these issues by chance when deciding if you will venture into one of these avenues?

I think if you write your own articles it's better for you to upload them to your site and not give them to other sites. The result of these articles will be good traffic from search engines. If your articles are very interesting your visitors will back to your site to read more such articles.
But it's your decision what to choose. I tried a lot of ways of increasing traffic and as for me this way is the best.
