    Default Check your betfair links

I just noticed that some of our Betfair links weren't working. Not sure how long they've been out of action but the following banner id's no longer work at all (just loads a blank page).

Anyway, just a heads up to maybe double check your links...

    hi mate

both these media ID's relate to the £25 matched bet which probably stopped around 18 months ago.

You will need to grab out new B10G30 ones from the media gallery in order to update, PM if you have any trouble.

    cheers

They must have been redirected to the new offer page because they were working fine until recently. Looking at my stats there were functional until July as they were still sending signups.

Is there a reason why it was killed rather than just continue to be redirected?

Links should "NEVER" stop working, whether an offer expires or not, it's real darn simple to just have the link redirect to the home page, but many operators got this idea that lost traffic and visitors that land on a 404 page or a blank white page are gonna make them and affiliate money...

NOPE!, the visitor may or may not return to the affiliate site and follow a link to a DIFFERENT Operator, but the operator that foolishly allowed the link to expire to nothingness....well maybe they deserve to lose the traffic, but sadly this hurts affiliates.

After all these years I just don't get where operators can not understand how foolish visitors landing on 404's and blank pages are.

Betfair links have been dodgy for two and a half weeks. First noticed the one I was using - which was a direct link to sports homepage - on all my sites was 404 erroring three weekends ago. It is now back working but I can't see the correct tracking cookies so I do not believe it currently tracks referrals. I am now using the generic 8142 link to the "bet £10 get £30" landing page. That appears to be tracking and working, but even that went blank (the bet £10 get £30 text disappeared) weekend before last.

PS: When you check your links clear browser cache first as it seemed some worked when you had been to betfair before but did not work for first time visitors.

they told me yesterday they switched ad server and the, and i quote " so some of the creative is a little all over the place". they only told me because I asked where my 120x60 banner had vanished to.

Now i wouldnt of minded because sometimes tech errrors happen, but now I find they just removed trackers, without telling anyone, or thinking. that is bang out of order just burying their heads in the sand pretending all will be fine

ugh thats ridiculous. none of my betfair links seem to be working.
I'm sure there are plenty of sites which would prefer the exposure.

Correction to my earlier post. 9282 is / was the ID for sports homepage (which i used everywhere). This link is still not working. It 404 errors for new visitors (ie: after clearing cache) but will land you on the page (minus referral cookies) if you have visited betfair before.

This **** happens with Betfair all the time, I recall Italy few months ago, it was pointing to whitepage I think. I am very upset about them, but I pulled them almost down and even did not report them here.

Me too - I was wondering why signups had dropped significantly the last month or so.

I hate it when programs do this. It is proof that they don't really care and want to work together with their affiliates.

Affiliate programs should have a good relationship with their affiliates, they should care about their affiliates and work together with them. It will make the affiliates earn more but they will also get more visitors what will give them a higher profit in the end.

Appears that Harry has sorted this out and links working again. I guess technical dept balls it up and then affiliate dept take the flak.

Got an email from betfair asking for suggestions about their program, obviously I complained about the links not working and pointed them to this thread.
Today the old links appear to be working again....
