Default Chrome omnibox using wrong google - anyone know how to fix?

All of a sudden chrome is using the wrong version of google when I type a search term in the omnibox (the main address bar - only just found out that was what it's called myself). Same thing happens when I right click and select 'search google for xxx' which I use all the time.

Kind of annoying as I now how to open up a new window and type 'google.co.uk' before searching anything...

Anyone know how to change it back to google UK? In the settings the only option is to select the search engine (eg: google v yahoo v bing) but there's no way to select the country version.

    Are you logged in?
Have to tried to tie your google account to a different country - perhaps for SEO purposes - and that why you're getting the change?

Not sure how you change googles mind about which country is best for you -but I'm pretty sure if you are logged out of google / blogger accounts then your UK ip address will mean that you defeault back to UK google for searches.

    Cheers mate.

No, not done anything differently - just all of a sudden started getting results for the US (and sometimes New Zealand) instead of UK. Have double checked my account and it's set to the UK (never been changed either) and language is set as English (UK).

Have just tried logging out of everything and then restarting chrome, but it's still the same.

Cheers Rick. You know what, I'd actually seen that before and had a fish around in the settings to see if there was an option for google UK but all I could see was the generic 'Google' option.

Hadn't occurred to me that I could ovewrite it myself with a new base URL - have just done it and it works perfectly, cheers bud!

[Note: for anyone passing though (as well as myself for when I need it again), the base URL for searching google.co.uk is: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%s]
