    Default Codeta now closed

I've not had any communication from Codeta or the affiliate program, but did know they were going to shutdown. Well, looks like it's official now.

    Important Notice from Codeta

    Dear Customer,
We thought you should know that Codeta is no longer in business. But don’t worry! This doesn’t mean that you can’t play your favorite online casino games anymore. Since Codeta is part of the EveryMatrix family, a network of licensed White Label brands, we will take care of you and your account.
We will migrate your account to Jetbull casino beginning on the 23rd of January 2019.
On Jetbull, you can continue where you left off, your account will remain the same and your money balance will be migrated as well. You will have the same credentials and after you log in and accept the Terms and Conditions you will be able to fully use your account.
We will only be migrating real funds, so any bonus balance you might have had won’t be taken into consideration anymore.
Both casinos are operated by EveryMatrix Software Ltd./EveryMatrix Ltd which means that we will do anything we can to take care of you no matter which casino under our umbrella you choose. We reserve the right to migrate our valuable players from one brand to another in the event of website shutdown in order to maintain continuity and give you the least amount of trouble.
Please sign in at Jetbull.com with the same credentials to start playing your favorite casino games.
    Good luck!
    Thank you for understanding,
    EveryMatrix
I wonder if our player tags will be moved across? Anyone any idea?

That would be the right thing to do. It rarely happens, but I hope it does. Will try to get some info.

Rumours were right, communication from the casino was bad to non-existing, while Ihre Consulting normally has no problem reachinges inboxes of affiliates.

    Exactly this...!

Edward Ihre and Claire Wellard were pretty silent (Ihre who normally takes every opportunity to give interviews) during this whole Codeta mystery.

Surprisingly Claire started igamingXL just around the time when this thread was started

Eward Ihre (founder of Codeta and according to himself relying on affiliates for Codeta) is now Member of the Board at Global Gaming

    Just a FYI...

Edward Ihre's reputation is down the drain imo. Funny interview as well when he talks about that they have seen what other operators is doing wrong - too bad they do the exact same mistakes. He also talks about the importance of transparency - whatta clown.

I think it's important to acknowledge that Codeta and Ihre Consulting are two separate entities. I've known Claire a very long time and can tell you that she had no direct involvement in the day to day operations of Codeta nor was a shareholder in the business. I don't think it's right for her to be brought in to this at all. Whilst she is a competitor, I consider her to be upstanding and professional in her work.

Partnering with a new casino is a risk affiliates take. It is a blow when things don't work out, but I imagine Edward lost out quite a bit more. I quite liked the concept of Codeta and admired the attempt at differentiation - it's a shame it didn't work out. It would be good to see tags switched to Jetbull, but they are separate affiliate programmes with different terms, so I'd be (pleasantly) surprised to see a migration

I fail to see how this is relevant to the original post. Im not happy that ive lost players. Businesses close down all the time and its sad when it happens this way as it affects lots of people. Edwards issues have been well ducumented and as far as i know Clare had little to do with the running of Codeta. In fact she took on a huge burden when Edward was ill.

Theres no need for mis informed personal attacks. The Interviews you use as an example are a few years old. Hardly relevant as an example for this thread.

I think it is "important" and "relevant" that established leaders in this industry, with a reliable reputation, acknowledge their mistakes and give feedback to the affiliates they relied on when this is requested. Especially being an active former gold sponsor here only a few months ago.

We all support new ventures and yes we all make mistakes, silence never solves the latter.

Playing "deaf-mute" and jump to the next programs without any scruples usually only works for the rogue outfits we all hate... not sure if one wants to be associated as part of that sector.

On Edward's part, I'm sure he acknowledges it and there is no doubt that affiliates warranted better communication of the closure. He was not obliged to comment on the reports in October and I'm sure was fighting tooth and nail to keep his business afloat. Businesses go under all the time and there are market forces at play in the industry that see good people suffer and, at times, have their name questioned... I get that. His misfortune - one might call it mismanagement - has left a lot of people out of pocket, but I'm sure none more than him. Is he not entitled to move on to something else? It's up to you whether you work with Global Gaming or any business he's involved in.

As for Claire, she has no mistake to acknowledge here.

Both Ihre and Codeta had no trouble what so ever to shout out loud and be present every where (interviews both on- and offline, conferences, mailblasts, sponsoring, etc, etc.) the passed two years with BOTH of their products. So how hard can/could it be to give a statement to your affiliates?

Now obviously we can play hide and seek here about who works (worked) where and who is (was) responsible for, what turned out to be, a failure but let's face it their websites and statements in interviews made in the past, by both persons, are/were clear about that.

I've worked with them and had a (test) account as a player at their casino. Both a completely horrible experience. I had to chase them for months for a relatively small payment. The test player had quite a bad experience too.

Misfortune? I think it's more a good idea badly executed. Quite some investments in booths, awards, etc and less in what is basic for a product.

The operator of Codeta has a reputation when it's about spam and sending e-mails you didn't ask for. Everyone can find the threads at this forum, at other webmaster forums.

What bothers is that there's a complete lack of communication about this closure, however, serious rumors where going on for months already, but now in a week I got already some unsolicited emails of Ihre Consulting about "them still going strong" and joining some affiliate programs with their affiliate link. Of which one is sent also as a cc to a Gmail-address.

I hope for webmasters that recently were working actively recently players will remain tagged when converted to Jetbull. That would not just be good, it would be the only right thing. If not, Jetbull takes over just the assets, but not the obligations. Which is common practice at white labels, but of course not ok.

I am fine with people move on to their next job/idea/challenge, etc. But this situation doesn't make me very enthusiastic about joining one of them.

But Edward Ihre hasn't acknowledged it publically - or in fact spoke about it at all - has he?
IT has not been addressed. An attempt to brush it under the carpet?

Until this is covered publically and discussed in the open then all Edward Ihre's 'new ventures" should be suspect.
What stops it happening again? What has he learned? We don't know.

Legally he is entitled to move on - that's the whole point of the capitalist system of limited liability companies. However, lack of communication from a person who regularly issued emails and press releases, and complete inability to explain does not engender any trust at all.

    --------------------------

This thread identifies the main players, both Edward Ihre and Claire Wellard, their lack of openness during the troubles and subsequent shutdown, and their inability to run this business in this specific area.

Ihre is/was an owner of Codeta and clearly knows the full story, while Wellard runs under the title of COO of Ihre Consulting and doesn't get to play the "little me" card when parachuted in to save a failing business. Speak publically or expect critical examination of your efforts.

As such, it's important that ALL affiliates are aware of this business failure and lack of public acknowledgement by two key people in the business, especially given the propensity of BOTH to email all and sundry on a weekly basis when trying to affiliates on board.

That's not character assassination or a personal attack - it's a reflection on their behaviour before, during and after the crisis.

And it's a reminder to all that just because a person or people have some name recognition in the industry does not mean they can run a business in a related field. Affiliates and PR people don't automatically make good casino owners.

    I didn't get this email...
But I suspected this will happened after the sudden lake of communication by the affiliate team recently.

Also the fact that this email was sent by the EveryMatrix team directly is also troubling specially if they can shutdown brands just like with only few days notice.

Other people were also already talking about this only in November of last year. There's a thread about this subject on askgamblers.com and it can be found here: https://www.askgamblers.com/forum/topic/8940-more-and-more-casinos-to-shut-their-doors/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-117503

    Hi All

Apologies that I didn’t respond to the post over the weekend. I would like to address as many comments as I can in my response, in as frank and honest way as possible. These comments are also from me personally and should not be taken as an official response on behalf of Edward, who I have made aware of the post and also my response to the feedback.

From my personal perspective, after 12 years of working with affiliates, it is regrettable that I find myself in this situation. I do not hide behind a “little me” card, and apologise personally for my silence but I hope that some of you might also give me the benefit of the doubt for my position in this situation. I do not have any shares in Ihre Consulting, nor in Codeta. Edward is the founder of both companies but they are completely separate entities – one does not own the other. In fact Codeta has many shareholders, a board of directors, registered totally separately to Ihre Consulting which is registered within Sweden with Edward as 100% shareholder.

Ihre Consulting’s involvement in Codeta began when Codeta launched and we helped get Codeta off the ground in many different ways (Tech, PR, HR, Affiliates, Payments etc). Once their team was established, I and my team took a step back for them to run this company themselves. Ihre Consulting then assisted, as we do with many clients, in recruiting and managing affiliates for them. We did this on a monthly fee basis, as is our business model and has been for 8 years.

At the end of last year, I was made aware that there were problems and they were looking for a solution in terms of a buyer for the brand. I was not party to any of these conversations and was not aware until very late in the process that this was not to materialise. It is unfortunate for the brand, and more regrettably for the staff and the affiliates who have been affected. Once I was aware of the situation, Ihre Consulting stopped promoting the brand, but since I had no official nor legal response I could give to affiliates, I had my hands tied as to what I could do.

I constantly ask myself the question should I have taken the lead (and without any formal direction or information) and emailed all the affiliates anyway relaying that there were problems, but I had no answers or resolutions to tell them aside from that. The only solution available to me was to wait for the official updates and try to help everyone from that point once we had direction. Honestly, either way gives the same outcome – Codeta is Bankrupt, affiliates are affected and the communication surrounding the situation could have been better from all parties.

affy mentioned that I started my own company around the same time that this all happened, and I felt it right to touch on this, whilst being aware this is not actually what this post is about. Personally last year, after 8 years with Edward and a terrible year for me personally, I decided in the summer to take a step back (somewhat) from Ihre Consulting and start my own company. I wanted to be able to grow and try new things within the industry, so Edward was gracious enough to permit me to start working part-time as his COO for Ihre Consulting to allow me time to focus on my personal life and any professional changes I wanted to pursue. The timing of the announcement was purely co-incidental. This happened in June unofficially but while attending G2E in October as my own company, it was the right time for me to publicly announce it.

I have heard officially today the news that Codeta is bankrupt. Now I don’t know if this will be publicly made available and to what detail – I can’t unfortunately comment, much I am sure to some people’s annoyance. I am not a legal representative for either company. But I can give all affiliates who are on board with Codeta the assurance that once I do know what is happening regarding the situation and where you can go to file any claims or for more information, I will be the first to pass this over. I just can’t tell people what I don’t know, as frustrating as it is.

I am aware this doesn’t give some people the answers that they might be looking for, but I can only apologise for my part to play in the situation. I do hope that people will give me the benefit of the doubt and understand that my hands were and are tied in a situation I don’t have any influence, say or authority over. But I will do what I can once I get any details which are of use to affiliates on how to proceed.

    Thanks

    Claire
