Default Any tools to locate your site in Google?

I've got a site that's not in the top 100 yet on Google. Problem is that until a few days ago, I have been able to locate it. But now, poof... it's gone. I know it's still indexed because I can find it by typing in the URL, but can't locate it anywhere.

Anyone know of a way or tool that helps you find it?

Thanks guys. I found 2 ouf my subpages between the 100th to 400th pages for that given keyword (which is also my domain) but unable to see the homepage anywhere. Shouldn't the homepage appear before the subpages in the serps? I'm confused....

    No not always.

If you have a sub page with a good keyword density and fits the search well, then it makes sense for a sub page to rank better than the home page.

Please remember, when a visiotr searches for a keyword, they will be returned with results which point at "PAGES" that match their search not "websites".

It is why if you have a general casino website, but have really good content pages for blackjack, and you ask for a link exchange with a blackjack page I have, using a blackjack themed anchor text, I am gonna recommend the link point at the page that contains the blackjack content NOT your home page because it matches the theme of my page better which is better for my visitor....and it is also better for you!

I see your point Rick. But in this case, it is a site that has only one theme that is specifically targeted to the keyword associated in the domain. So I would think the homepage will rank ahead of its subpages.

    What transpired is the following:
    1) Until two days ago, I found the homepage in the top 200 results for that keyword and it was steadily climbing up the ranks.

    2) BUT, about a week ago I submitted each subpages individually so that Google will index all pages of the site.

Could this have resulted from the 2nd action? And could it have any correlation with the new Caffeine algorithm being rolled out?

Well hopefully the engines should have been able to find all the sub pages previously since they were all linked in some way to the home page....

What I believe to be happening is that google feels other pages rae a better match for your keywords then the home page based upon factors such as on page seo, keyword density or other factors....

This is not a bad thing, and is quite logical for sub pages to rank better than the home page at times....

Yup and that is what's boggling me. I don't mind if my inner page ranks higher than the homepage. But in this case, the homepage fell off the grid completely, while the inner page appears about 10 pages below from where the homepage did within that keyword.

I don't why you rank on the same keyword from your homepage and your inner pages. you are being your own competitor. And i am not shure but i think google shows only 2 pages from the same domain per keyword/phrase . So I think that your inner pages are more optimized for the keyword then your homepage. Maybe it is wise to optimize your inner pages for some niche keywords related to your main keyword. And optimize (linkbuild) the main keyword to your home page.

I think you're right about being my own competitor. The keyworded domain is a .com, which should have vaulted up to the 1st page for that search term quickly. But instead, it didn't because I think the fact that I also had a .org and .net version of that same domain indexed in Google up until last week sabotaged it. So I had them removed completely.

While all this was going on, I manually submitted all of my sub pages as well. And now only that one inner page is listed far down.

I think the mistake I made here is doing too many things at once and shot myself on the foot. I am trying to undo it by just having the homepage listed back on that search term, and build more backlinks to move it up the serps. Do you think removing that inner page will help or harm at this point?

I don't think you have to remove the inner page but just start to build new natural links to your homepage with the keyword (don't forget to variate the keyword) you want to rank for. and look if it will rank again. I don't know how competitive the keyword is but it could take a while.

I never had this problem so i just given the things I would do if it happened to me.

    Manually submitted...where and why?

If you home page is indexed, there is no reason to submit sub pages.

Make sure all pages within the website can be reached through navigation links, and or a sitemap.

Create an xml sitemap for the site making sure 100% of all pages you want indexed are contained on the sitemap, and then submit that sitemap in Google Webmaster Tools (as well as Bing and Yahoo Site Explorer).

And having sub pages rank on targeted keywords is not a bad thing....

Yeah, it does that when the results are too low for it - I am not sure how 'deep' it goes.

Sorry I don't know of any others, I use the two online ones I have mentioned and WebCEO - one of those usually works so I have never needed to go looking for any others.

As universal4 pointed out, there might be some great difference between keyword density on both pages. You might want to identify which page got the most qualified density for the keyword it is ranking for as well as the prominence. Another thing you can do is to check on these pages backlinks count. Analyze the most frequent anchor text used. Once, identified that the subpage returns greater stats compared to the homepage, you might then want to consider lowering the subpage stats while improving the homepage if you still want to switch them.

    Casinorep,

Use the SEO Rank Checker from SEOBook:

    http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/rank-checker/

It's probably the easiest way to keep track of your keywords and sites.
