    Default Content Writers

Hi all, just wanted to throw this out there for a mate who is a copywriter. He's asked me if I can get some info on the going rate for articles, reviews etc.

Is it charged per word or per block of words and whats the going rate?

    Thanks in advance.

The industry standard seems to be per word, although it really does depends on the writer and how they work (I've paid per article, per job and even per hour in the past).

In terms of rate, that'll depend on the quality and the volume but the range seems to be $0.025 to $0.05 / word. If your friend is a native english speaker who can produce quality engaging pieces with no errors, then he should be looking at the upper end of the scale.

What a lot of people do to break into writing is start off either offering a lower introductory rate, or giving away some free articles on the forums in exchange for public feedback - might be worth suggesting this to your friend.

Out of curiosity are they from a gambling industry background?

I pay an average of 0.025 cents a word.
Sometimes I'll pay higher but only for really really good content.

On textbroker the going rate for 4 star work is 0.022 cents a word and then textbroker takes their cut out of that.

    0.022c per word x 500 words = 11.00$ though looking at the rates right now it's 0.024c

I don't get what they mean by: Example: You have a 300-word article that you’ve placed at level 3. Your total cost for the order is $5.75. Your article may be written by a 5-star author, but you still pay the 3-star rate.

On top of this each of your orders is charged with 0.35$ processing fee, which might up the average 'per word' price by around a cent depending on the length.

I just checked out the text brokers site. it looks good! Def better than fiverr. However there are some very good writers on fiverr that have a backround in our niche.

On fiverr the good authors will write an article for 5 bucks but they will get it down in a few weeks unless you pay a twenty dollar rush fee. I do not have an account at textbrokers, Do the writers on text brokers give examples on what their backround is such as sports news?

Baldy, he'd not from this industry. He is a very clever and well educate bloke who currently does medical writing. It came from a chat with him over a beer at the weekend where he mentioned expanding his scope and was looking at new verticals. I obviously mentioned gaming and he's interested.

I get the old textbroker rate of 0.022 for 4 star work and I pay an average of $13.50 for a 500 word article. TB just raised their rates a couple of months ago. Long time customers, like me, get to keep the old TB rate.

I have found that most good writers work out of both fiver, textbroker and a couple of other sites. But IMO textbroker is a little more publisher friendly.

@xecutable, I think that means that some writers will work below their level, just to get the work.
I have a tenured professor of English at a major US University that writes quite a bit for me... at 0.022 a word.

I use iWriter (this is my affiliate link btw which you may or may not use ) , have had decent content written for as little as $3/500 words, generally I pay about double that.
I also use a guy on people per hour for UK based content (I can pass his PPH page on if people are interested)

We pay per word and our freelancers make about $10-30 per article (250-500 words). Fiver is a good way to go as well and you can pay $5 for 300-, 400-, and 500-word articles.

Most affiliate sites suck because most webmasters hire crap writers on crap rates. Sure you can find a few decent writers for 3c/word but for the most part they will be uninspiring. I have writers for 4c, some at 6c, some at 15c and have commissioned one off jobs for alot higher. Try offering a qualified American journalist 3c/word and see what he says. With writers for the most part you get what you pay for, hence why gambling is filled with so much junk, filler content rehashed and recycled from exsiting websites.

Its true you get what you pay for but still not all affiliates require a journalist for their content...
