The coronavirus pandemic is having a huge impact on almost everyone's life today. The consequences are obviously most serious for those who have actually contracted COVID-19. But around the world there are huge disruptions around almost every aspect of the way people normally live and work.
As affiliates, most of us are lucky in the sense that it is generally easy for us to work from home. Most of us decide how much time we want to spend working, and can adjust that time to be more or less depending on what else is going on in our lives and how motivated we are to work in our affiliate business. So, with the turmoil in the world today, I'm sure many are just plugging on spending about the same amount of time working as as always. But for many, I expect the situation is resulting us working more or working less than before.
For this week's poll, I ask if you are working more or less now. But, the real objective behind the poll is to find out why your work hours have changed for better or for worse, or stayed the same. You might be working harder because you see new opportunities or because you are stuck at home without as many other competing choices. Or you might not be working as hard because you or those you care about are struggling with the consequences of the pandemic.
In my personal case, I think I am working a little harder than normal, although I have always spent enough of my time working that it is not that easy to work even more. I am concerned about what the future holds, and am doing my best to make sure I'm doing the right things so we whether the storm as well as possible. Major work activities have involved migrating the business from one where there were a significant number of folks working in an office to one where virtually everyone is working from their home, making sure near-term finances are as they should be in the context of changes taking place, and beginning the process of evaluating how the business needs to evolve given the new situation around the world. And on the personal side, there have been many new and different focuses as well. One simple example is spending more time on the phone with my mom who is isolated in a residence for the elderly that is under complete lock down, with even residents now isolated from one another (at first my mom had a couple friends eat dinner in her apartment unit each evening, but that is no longer allowed).
