Data Highlighter in GWT

Im curious if anyone has had much success with the Data Highlighter feature in Google webmaster tools. I have never used it but from the sound of it, it seems it is just a tool to present how your site information will appear in search results? It doesn't sound like it helps to improve your search rankings. Is that correct? To me, it seems "Rich Cards" (which I know little about as well) could actually help with search results and could boost your rankings.

The Data Highlighter is an easier way provided by WMT to markup your website content. Instead of editing your source code with markup tags - with Data Highlighter you can select content you want to markup and then with mouse's right button you can choose what type is it. However it have only few types of information like movies, books, local businesses etc.
I recommend you to use schema.org. For example if you want to have rich snippet for any of your casino reviews you can use http://schema.org/Review. Cheers.
