Default Dedicated IP or Add on Domain

I wanted to get some feedback from peoples experiences on hosting your sites.

Would you say having a dedicated ip address is 100% needed from an seo point of view,

Or would hosting a site as a add on domain with a collection of other sites be fine.

Or could this damage the site overall.

Not trying to flame you or anything. But in your signature it links to a site using the anchor Text: "Internet Marketing Experts"

Surely if you were such, you wouldn't need to start threads like this one, posing questions such as this

Oh and BTW. Dedicated IP all the way

    Default aware

Sure I was well aware of that when I wrote the post and knew that would be the first thing posted.

Of course a dedicated ip would be the best way to go but it would be nice to get some feedback from people in this industry all the same.

I don't think it matters........shared IP vs. dedicated IP, unless you have link farms that interact on the shared IP servers....that would give Google a bigger clue in disabling you.

from my experience I have not seen any difference in search engine positions from Dedicated ip or non this is the conuderum.

If anyone has any different experiences that would be great.

There really is no difference between hosting a site on a shared hosting account, dedicated ip, vps, or any other type of hosting account. As long as you have a domain attached to a particular IP and it the response time is adequate, then in Google's eyes you are treated the same as everyone else.

Only if you plan on creating many sites which link to each other on the same ip class is when you may have some issues of getting full value juice for your links.

Technically speaking, you can find a web host where your server is located in the geographic location in which you are targeting, get a domain that is also geo targeted, and you will have a head start in ranking above others for the same key phrases. This however, should not replace and will not trump a website with good and relevant backlinks.
