Default Diary of a USA Affiliate

    June 3rd 2011

    Dear Diary,

Today I've seen a lot. Some observations.

    Should I move everything to.uk?

Should I move everything to .net?

Get away from .com or you'll spend your life in jail!

I won't move anything to UK because of the white list. I respect the UK law. Unless I want to research which casinos I should be promoting to UK facing players, don't go from the frying pan into the fire.

Don't Mention USA On My Site!!!! If I thought I was going to get arrested I would not be doing this.

The larger, and LARGEST problem for affiliates RIGHT NOW is the programs. Scimming, scamming or just unable to pay the bills themselves so they take our earnings. I understand the latter. Sucks for them too.

So what to do? Scramble again like we did in 2006? I don't think so. It feels different this time. I will not be able to maintain like I did before.

I won't count on this industry for now and be smart. This is what is happening, The Feds are going to break online gambling to ground zero and then build it back up again to the USA way. Just going to hang out until that happens.

I'm setting up all kinds of things both online and off to pay the mortgage. I'll be ok, though I did have a bit of a nervous breakdown. Thank you to those for understanding.

I am seeing all sorts of ****** terms. I'll promote who is paying me.

    PROMOTE GAMBLING WAGES!

Just kidding but I hear a lot of affiliates are promoting them now.

    End Dear Diary.

The force is strong with this one but I feel much anger in you. Anger leads to the dark side of the force.

Oh no silly Chris. Not angry at all.

Drats. Do you mean I can't promote gambling wages?

I just took my site offline.

Gonna be a lot of disappointed visitors that play the free flash games.

    Good luck everyone.

    Oh no slotplayer!

Talk it out. Are you sure you want to do this? Why?

I want to see how things shake out for now. Plus I have 2 niche retail sites that eat up all my time.
Wouldn't want to jeopardize those. I'll still be around.

Wow! If you want a hand, I'd be happy to give you a hand with geotargetting, and finding ways to monetise your US traffic.
Not sure how much help it would be, but I would hate to see you go offline.
Let me know by PM if you want me to take a look and see what I can do.

    Cheers

I don't get it, why take it offline?

Gambling Domains: Small clear out of some of the domains we've been hoarding on Dan - see the list here. Prices negotiable, and willing to swap for decent links.

If staying promoting online gambling at the moment Slotplayer, why not just remove the ads and leave the free games up? At least you'll still have a site up and running for when the good times reappear!

I feel your pain Mojo! I'm in the lucky position of not living in the US but we all get screwed over somewhat but the US events.

I can understand slotplayer wanting to take it down.

I can only speak for myself but this biz that I used to enjoy so much has become a source of anxiety and stress. I think many of us are just tired of the constant battle. Plus there is the legalities. Even if we think we are doing everything to comply with the law we just don't know.

It makes sense to put it down if it is causing stress and do something that makes you feel good or at least better. JMO

I tried a few times to leave the games up but the editing was getting overwhelming. Casino Coins is on so many pages and there is a ton of ad promotion integrated in the free games pages. Much of it USA facing.

That's exactly it. Maybe its panic or paranoia but my gut kept telling me not to press my luck.
