do u have to click for the affiliate to get your business?

I am curious. If I visit a website but do not click any of their banners and then go back to my own website and click the banner in question, who gets credit?

I ask because I know there are some tricky codes out there and tricky affiliates who could possibly make this a realistic thing.

I think if you're talking about aff links, then it would depend on the program, but I would say that an impression only would not insert a cookie or bannertag into the session. If it did, then who gets credit would depend on which referrer the program uses. If it's first, then that site would get the player. If it's last, you'd get the player.

So it is possible to insert a cookie without clicking on a link?

There is cookie stuffing, but I'm not sure exactly how that works. I will be back after I consult with ze Google

Ze Google tells me that it is possible to set the cookie on page load.

Cookie stuffing is against the terms and conditions of almost all programs and is completly unethical.

If anyone ever suspects of an affiliate doing this, let us know here so we can investigate.
