Question Do you advertise using Google Adwords?

For this week's poll I ask if you advertise using Google Adwords. Besides voting in the poll please share the factors that influence your decision whether on not to promote a site on Google.

Especially for sites promoting gaming and games, the policies you must follow can be complex. Primarily, they are designed to prevent the promotion of unlicensed sites.

Google is constantly updating its advertising policies for gambling and games. A complete change log of all upcoming and recent advertising policy changes can be found on the following web page:

    support.google.com/adspolicy/topic/29265

Of the 176 updates currently reported on that page (the report goes back to October of 2021), 45, or more than 25% are for changes to their gambling and games policies.

Here is an example of a recent change posted on September 3, 2024:

Update to Circumventing systems policy (November 2024)

Advertisers with the Gambling and games certification must recertify or stop relying on the certification to advertise products in scope of the Gambling and games policy if a material change has occurred since the certification application was submitted. Failure to do so will be considered a violation of the Circumventing Systems policy. Material changes include, but are not limited to, changes to advertiser’s product offerings which are inconsistent with any license or approvals provided to Google, changes to advertiser’s compliance with applicable regulations, and changes to advertiser’s licensure or other compliance with Google’s Gambling and games certification requirements. Changes to an advertiser’s address or payment methods are not considered material for purposes of this Gambling and games recertification requirement.

We take violations of this policy very seriously and consider them egregious. If we find violations of this policy, we will suspend your Google Ads accounts upon detection and without prior warning, and you will not be allowed to advertise with us again.

Google AdWords is pretty expensive for casino related terms. For operators it make sense to advertise but for affiliates I don't think so.

For me its a no brainer, as bedrageri says the operators in regulated markets can outbid you easily and my business needs to promote non gambling related sites also so can't risk getting banned or blocked.
