Default Do you give your real phone number when joining a program?

After joining many affiliate programs it seems strange that new programs email you as if your data was sold.

The question is when you join any affiliate program do you give them your real phone number?

I ask after having been called at unreasonable hours it makes me wonder where are people getting this from.

If a program said your number was required with a phone call verification would you join their program?

I am signed up to a ridiculous amount of programs, I give out my real number and I never receive any "spam" calls

I have a cheap pay as you go phone and VOIP number that I use to give out to affiliate programs. So I'm not sure how to answer - it is a real number, but it isn't my main number.

I have never had any problems to be fair - if I am spammed as such, they will be told and I won't work with them

At Casino City we give out our number to affiliate programs (actually, it is even published on the web). But it is a business number, and not a personal phone number. Even with a much smaller business, I would tend to want to have different personal and business numbers, and to be much freer about giving out a business number.

Not any more. I leave it blank now. If it insists on being filled - in put in the number 4 as many times as required.

Affiliate programs are notorious for having NO IDEA about global time zones, and I've lost count of the number of calls we would receive between midnight and 5am ...

I tend not to - if someone wants to speak to me they can email me first and arrange a convenient time to do so. I don't like receiving calls out of the blue.

We always give the personal phone number of one of our company managers.
Personal communication via telephone calls is one of the best options to inspire trust at that kind of business.
They call us only if they have to inform us for something really urgent that we have to take immediate action.

Totally agree with you on the trust issue and i spend more time on the phone to affiliate managers than most i think, but i can be reached by email near enough 24/7 so don't feel it's too much to ask that they email ahead. Phone calls are a very invasive form of communication compared with email and while i actively enjoy talking business on the phone, i ask the same courtesy that AMs expect when you ask them to make time to speak to you (ie space to find a convenient time to do so).

We give our business number, yes, but personally I prefer to receive an email or message via skype before someone calls.

I have received plenty of spam calls. Now I always give out a special number that goes automatically to voicemail, but I can divert it if necessary (eg. if someone makes a specific time to call).

I have a free UK number from www.flextel.ltd.uk and I'm sure you can find similar free services for numbers in other countries. I also pay $1/month for a USA number from www.faxaway.com - it only goes to voicemail (can't divert it to another number) but it's useful for sending faxes through the net.

Well so far received a few calls at unwanted times and a few calls from other programs that wouldn't disclose how the phone number was obtained.

I wouldn't give my personal number. As someone already mentioned, the best idea might be having two phone numbers and use the additional one for business purposes, such as this. The unwanted calls may not be the problem, but still it doesn't feel right for me.

I have a Skype number I use for all online programs/sites I join... Makes it cheaper for calling and I don't get calls to my cell.. I found before getting calls to my cell while I was at my other job was disturbing... and if I was on the road I would answer... tell them I would call back, and then get sidetracked and sometimes not get back to them...
