Question Do you have specific SEO resources you use?

For many gambling portal webmasters content and search engine optimization of that content are the name of the game.

When it comes to SEO, where do you turn. Do you do it yourself, or do you use others? And if you do it yourself (which I think is the case for most of us), are there specific resources that you find helpful? Maybe a site with good suggestions, or a newsletter on SEO you read, or some tools that help you do a better job.

Please share the resouces you use by posting about them in this thread.

What I know about SEO could be written on the top quarter of a standard size playing card.
So I have to admit I do very little on pokerpeople.

I do all of the SEO work myself. The positive is that I learn first hand of what works.. and more frequently I learn of what does not work.

At one time I hired an "SEO" expert to help do on-page optimization, and off-page as well. I had nothing but trouble with that experience. My site was banned from Google for quite some time after that.

    Tools I use:
    (1) GPWA members regularly add tid bits of good information on SEO strategies. Most often, they re-inforce what I already think I know.

    (2) SEOMOZ.com Randfish and his team really know what they are talking about. I'm not a paying member, but I enjoy their articles and their "white board Friday" videos.

    (3) Google's webmaster tools: Analytics and "Webmaster Tools" section. I use those to get feedback from my efforts.

    (4) Digitalpoint.com's webmaster tools. They have a free keyword suggestion tool that I like to use to get ideas on keyword phrases that are actually being used in the SE
    s now.

    (5) seodigger.com to get an idea of some keyword phrases my competition is targetting. (I feel dirty when I use it.. isn't that weird!)

That's about all that comes to mind.

    Readings
    Highrankings
Some times Digitalpoint (too many phantoms)

    Software
    link-assistant only for link management.

    Google webmaster tools

I used to spend money in SEO softwares.
After my experience, my advice is DO NOT BUY that stuff.
All you need to know is in forums, free books and free tools.

I do the majority myself although I have got companies to do directory submissions.

I subscribe to a few RSS feeds for SEO that I feel are very good. Below is a list of the good ones.

    Matt Cutts
    SEOmoz
    Seer Interactive
    SEOptimise
    Dixon Jones
    NetBusinessBlog
    BlogStorm

I have some great tools on my Mac that have really helped out. These are all from Rage Software and include Domainer, SERank, and SEKeyword.

Great topic and I am interested in what other people have to say.

    Thanks.

One other thing, the WebMasterRadio.FM podcasts are great. The Danny Sullivan SearchCast, SEO 101, and SEO Rockstar podcasts are all really worth a listen, and free!

The Google forums at WebmasterWorld.com are a must-read.
    Aaron Wall's blog SEOBook.com is a must-read.

Apart from Google Analytics and WebMasterTools, a SERPs-tracking tool like the SEORank tool (from SEOBook.com) is free, and works great.

But as WagerX says, it's trial and error that is the greatest teacher!

I do the seo myself but I do read helpful advise that GPWA and CAP have as articles in magazines. I ask around to other webmasters for their advise etc. I love the challenge of getting my sites up there in the searches and knowing I did it all on my own.

Sounds strange but most of this was "learning by doing" with a lot of ......... doing and sometimes really slow "learning"

I know very little myself, but still do my own. I read anything I can find in forums such as here at the GPWA , magazines and have just started reading SEO for Dummies (third edition) recently .

I also use this little site, xxhttp://www.websitegrader.com/ to see where I might improve at.

I have now come to the conclusion from everything I read that I pretty much wasted the first couple years that I have been an affiliate. lol

I agree with what WagerX had to say:
I do all of the SEO work myself. The positive is that I learn first hand of what works.. and more frequently I learn of what does not work.
I too do may own SEO and am learning rather quickly. I find the best way for me is all through trail and error..

I found that the GPWA has been a great place to get help, iv asked so many questions and every time somebody answers with a VERY intelligent answer, which is brilliant as we all here to learn and gain experience.

    Regards.
