    Question How lucky are you?

We all work in the gambling industry. And more than many endeavors, luck can play a big role in how well we do, and how well our players do, from month to month.

So, for this week's poll I thought I would ask members how lucky they feel they are. And, besides voting in the poll, be sure to share a story or two. When were some moments where you said to yourself, "Boy was I lucky" or "I can't believe what bad luck I've had."

Here's to hoping some of us attending the iGaming Super Show in Dublin next week will be lucky enough to find a leprechaun with a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow (or at least win an iPad drawing).

I'd consider myself very lucky. I've has some amazing things happen in my life and i really consider myself very blessed. That said, i also work very hard and believe that to a large extent you create your own luck.

I have a beautiful wife, no health problems and I am my own boss - so I'd say I was pretty damn lucky.

I'm very lucky in life, somewhat lucky on the tables.

Once, during a one-month stretch when I was "between jobs" before I started working here, I would spend the day looking for and applying for jobs while my wife would go off to work. To break up the monotony, I would play in a $5 multi-table tournament at PokerRoom.com most days. (It was the only poker I'd play during that time - was very dedicated to finding work.) Of course, being out of work, finances were a stretch, so you can imagine how excited I was when I won the tournament one day. There were about 180 or 200 people in the thing on an average day, so the score was somewhere north of $400. Not enough to change my life, but enough to make the month a lot easier. Well imagine my surprise when I played in the same tournament the next day and won the whole thing again. I'd love to say that it was all due to skill, but I was pretty lucky in both of those tournaments. I remember being all-in and behind more than once in both tournaments.

Fast forward to a month ago, when I held a WSOP satellite at my house and managed to lose a huge pot that would have made me the chip leader when I was a 95 percent favorite to win going to the river ... and let's just say I was pretty unlucky that day.

I'm one that voted very unlucky. I have to say, a lot of **** things happen to me. And I think those are unlucky. But the good things that happen to me I think are because I made them happen. And I could control them.

There is a running joke between Yaniv and myself about me being unlucky actually.
A few examples - whenever we go for lunch or dinner, I'm always the last to get my food, and it always comes after everyone else has finished, and sometimes not at all..

I'm allergic to avocado, so if I ask for no avocado in something and tell them it's because I'm allergic, it almost always comes with avocado and without something else. So I have to send it back and ask for a new one.

When I put money in a drink machine and ask for pepsi max and type in the correct combination, it always goes to the next one across and gets the regular pepsi, which I cant drink because i dont like the sugar taste of it. If I choose the next one over because I know it will choose it if I put the write one in anyway, it chooses the one i put it, giving me the wrong drink, or goes over again and gets another wrong drink. I cannot tell you how many times this has happened to me. I should just stop buying drinks out of the machines.

If a flock of birds fly overhead and there are 20 of us, I'm the one that gets **** on.

If we fly, everyone will be upgraded or have a spare seat next to them except for me. My plane always get delayed, and they usually forget to give me food so I always order a special meal so there is no opportunity of that.

And really I could go on all day. We always joke that if there were 1000 people in a swimming pool, and I was dead in the middle, I would get eaten by a shark. In a swimming pool.
I do not swim in the ocean because I'm absolutely terrified of being eaten by a shark, of course it would be me, because I'm the one that's unlucky.

So anyway, there you have it.

I consider myself a very lucky person, maybe because I am very positive. When bad thing happen to me, I try to see what good will come out from that bad experience, so I would say I am very lucky

I consider myself VERY lucky, as I'm able to turn my hobby into my regular work. Next September (or October) I quit my daily job as senior auditor, which I've been for about 30 years and become a full-time affiliate

Besides that, there are so many other things which makes the sun shine extra bright. By far the most important thing (of course) is that my kids are doing very well. This alone makes me feel very proud and lucky.

I consider myself lucky to be fair - have a wonderful wife and son whilst I work from home and am ok financially.

A lot of what people have/do is down to their character I think - I always have in the back of my mind what would life be if I didn't do X, Y and Z so it keeps me focused going forward.

I try to focus on the fact that I am actually very lucky and really don't lack for anything in life Sometimes it's hard to keep that in perspective though on a bad day.

I consider myself the luckiest guy I know . Donald Trump says 'The harder I work, the luckier I get' and I gotta agree with it. I have always believed that I can get everything that I want, and perhaps my parents have helped with that, by always providing what I wanted. That turned into a habit, a great habit, the habit to believe that if u put the necessary work u will get the desired result.

Ten years later, well I am in a great shape, I quite happy and I work for myself. From what I see everyone here looks like they believe they are lucky. So I am going to write a book and the first sentence will be 'To succeed in this industry u have to be lucky '

I think I'm pretty lucky, I usually do well in things like Melbourne Cup sweeps and at entering competitions and things like that. One of my previous colleagues won a Lexus which I can't really compete with though!

I would call that unlucky that you weren't born an Arsenal fan

Some gamblers in denial around here. Luck is a uneducated word for variance - over time, in effect there's no such thing as either. Winning the lottery or getting struck by lightening are just two ends of the curve. The only possible option is the third.
