Do you share your location with others?

Modern cell phones know your location and can be authorized to share the data to apps that share it with others.

Maybe you like sharing your location history with Google, and receiving monthly reports of of your travels. Personally I do share my location history with Google and like to see the monthly summaries Google provides of my travels. On the other hand, I can definitely empathize with the idea that knowing that much detail of my left is kink of creepy. In fact, every time I see the monthly reports, I wonder how much recipients like or dislike it.

On the other end of the spectrum, my wife hates the idea of sharing her location data, and routinely disables such sharing, with occasional exceptions. For example, on a cross-country road trip, she made last summer, she used an app that shared our locations with one another. It kept us up-to-date, and provided some comfort that if anything went awry, or if there was a crash, that fact would be shared right away.

I frequently share my location data with Google and with others. The reason being is because I try to find restaurants, cafes, clubs etc. that are nearest to my suburb. I'm absolutely certain that Google will always find different ways to track their users, regardless of whether they're sharing location settings.

Anyway... they know enough about everyone who is connected to the Internet.

Occasionally, and only if it's relevant to the use of the app, I'll allow use of my location while using the app. Other than that feels intrusive and excessive to me.

Sometimes, I want to share my location with someone I want to meet, but otherwise, I don't see any reason to share my location with anyone, especially not on the social networks
