    Default Is this Dodgy?

    Hi All,

One of my blogs has received a lot of ping backs from the following URL:

    xxxhttp://www.casino02.freebb.de/

    One such link is:
    xxxhttp://www.casino02.freebb.de/thread-38.html

There are 100's of these similar pages.

This person or more likely a bot has also tried to hit me with blog spam too. Fortunately Akismet has caught it.

I can't find any of my content on this URL, then again that's not to say it not there - considering how many pages there are.

    Should I be concerned?

    Cheers

Most likely this is a trackback spam attempt.

Rarely works anymore, but here is the concept:

    http://www.tbspider.com/

don't buy this software as it does not work and I don't think is the type of links you want anyways, but shows the concept pretty well.

    Hi Dave,

Likely a silly question but did you Google,

    site:casino02.freebb.de ?

I ask partly because this is usually the beginning phase of polluting Google's results. The intent is malicious to piggyback off others work to artificially inflate rankings of the said domain.

    Hi shaddy,

Yes I did and ironically this thread is listed at spot #8 on Google!

Seems this bot has been busy. So I've sent and email over to the owner of freebb.de just to let him know about this spammer.

Maybe it will get pulled, maybe not. But worth the small effort on my part.

    Cheers

I am not 100% sure what this individual is doing yet, but clearly something is VERY spammy about this.

There are hundreds of pages with the exact same set of ads for Casino Coins properties, and there is no real logical reason to have that many DUPLICATE pages unless they are being used for spamming and tracking purposes.

the aff code attached to the link I followed is
xxhttp://www.gocasino.com/?c=64535&s=333 so I am hoping a Coins rep can look into this for us.

Lately I have seen a rather large pattern of people using bots to create accounts at forums and then return later to post spam that then links out to a page similar to this that then in turn links to the casinos (or pill sellers) using affilitae id's or ppc links.

This looks exactly like what is being set up here.

My biggest pet peave about what has been transpiring in the spamming world the last year or so, is not only that we need more fast-acting program reps to help take care of this when we discover it, but also getting to a point where we can start discovering the actual individual's identities behind a good bit of this stuff....

    By the way,

There are 212 pages on that forum site, all with the same ads and the same spam keywords.

No way what this person is doing could be considered anything but spam.

I hear you loud a clear Mate!

One of my pet peeves is that Googles and other such places makes it child's play to set-up spam havens.

It can't be that hard to set-up scanning software which would scan these free sub domains and flag this spam. Would it?

There has to be some advantage for Google and others to keep allow this activity to continue...

It just really annoys me when again it's legit webmasters who suffer at the hands of dodgy, unethical scum bags.

    Cheers

I suppose the other solution is to not allow track-backs.

Although it would serve its purpose, it hurts me too.

I used to like forums but I no longer use them because of the spam. Now after all my hard work I have to contend with another batch of A holes doing the same things to my blogs.

    Cheers

    Thanks Rick...

No offence to our Ukraine friends her at the GPWA but I don't like my chances of getting anything done about this by contacting them.

Worse (again no offence to our Russian friends) but XXXHQCASINO.NET is hosted by xxxispsystem.com which is located in Russia.

xxxispsystem.com claim to have offices in the USA but I phoned the number and it just disconnects. The domain whois is registered to a Russian Address.

Again from experience a pointless effort in wasting time.

I've not heard back from freebb.de so I forwarded my complaint to the upstream provider. That sometimes works a treat!

    Cheers

They not only locked down the offending spam Forum but also the TLD freebb.de.

In this case it was worthwhile contacting the upstream provider. Sometimes is a good option to CC them too.
