Thumbs down Migrations to IA Software

Much to my disappointment, one of our top programs (bgo) is migrating from their in house tracking software to Income Access.

Our affiliate manager informed us of the migration during LAC. Obviously, we expressed both concern and disappointment - citing that we regularly notice issues other programs have who are using Income Access software and we are typically left pulling our hair out. The programs blame the software, and Income Access kindly shifts the blame away from themselves at all costs.

Anyway, the current bgo affiliate software ticks enough of the right boxes at the moment. Their tracking is reliable (including mobile tracking). Their stats update in nearly real time.

After discussing this further, our AM shared with us that the transition was going to be seamless and that we would not have to do a thing - Income Access was going to automatically redirect all links so we would not have to lift a finger. Additionally, we were told that stats would update hourly.

Good thing I did not hold my breath on this whole automatic redirect thing...

Last night, the following email was received:

I wanted to let you know that on the 1st March we will be migrating from the current bgo buddies affiliate system to a new and improved Income Access system.

There are a number of beneficial reasons that has led to this change which include:
    · The addition of dynamic subid/custom ID tracking to make it easier to use a large number of traffic sources/keywords.
    · Ad serving which will enable us to auto update banners on your websites to keep them up-to-date and ensure conversion ratios are good.
    · Improved reporting which will enable you to drill down to player level reporting and see charts and graphs of this data.
    · 3 types of tracking (Session tracking + cookie tracking + cookieless tracking) for maximum tracking reliability.
    · The addition of sub-affiliate tracking

IMPORTANT: Once you have logged in to your account on the new system, please change your tracking links to the new ones available. PLEASE NOTE: You have 1 month to change links over to new ones before old links are disabled. · IMPORTANT: Please add your correct payment details to the new account to ensure you are paid correctly moving forward.

Clearly the ball was dropped on the whole automatically redirecting links for us.

We're proactively reducing exposure to bgo while changing our links, as I have no faith in the transition process.

Classic case of this software simply does not work the way it is supposed to or as advertised --- the "old links" redirect to bgo's home page instead of the chosen landing page.

In addition, it appears as if all players have not been migrated over as of right now. Clicks also do not seem to be tracking.

I really liked their old software, and I don't like IA

But the worst problem is that my links don't even redirect to bgo home page. All I get is a white screen, so no tracking or signups today, really disappointing.

Can you find some new tracking links on IA's platform ? All I get is a bunch of errors and that no tracking links where found.

I guess I will have to email bgobuddies and see if they can look into it.

I found and swapped out my links this morning. There's a signup reported - but no clicks showing.

This was supposed to be a seamless, effortless transition. We told Al that nothing is ever as it seems when it comes to Income Access.

I checked and the "old links" still redirect to the homepage.

Also just checked whether I am able to get "new links" --- I'm able to do so (click "get your ads" in the marketing tools menu.

After reading your post about this I just gave myself a test click to BGO Room and it landed on the home page fine and I saw the click in stats.

I have never really put much effort into promoting any of their other properties (if at all) but will take a look at the structure of the link I am using for bgroom, but my guess is that it is likely one of their "old school" left over from before they switched over to the ego Online backend.

Yes I checked and I was using the www.bgroom. link instead of the current structure site.bgroom. type of link.

The stuff after that appears the same aname=xxxx&zone_id=xxxx

Not sure if any of this helps, but an observation.

    Thanks for the replay's.

I managed to change all of my links to the new ones, but no clicks are being tracked OR they just don't update in real time.

Well I will contact Allan at bgobuddies tomorrow and see.

It would suck to not have the clicks/registrations tracked, as I am a small affiliate and everything counts

Thou I have to say that bgo converts very well and it would be a shame if the new tracking platform did not preform well.

As a side note, using the links I am, I have seen some registrations over the past few months, I just never really pushed backgammon like I should have, I do have an older backgammon site but it does not get a lot of quality traffic but does show an occasional registration.

The "old links" were supposed to be redirected to track in the new account, as well as redirect automatically to the appropriate landing page. I rarely send my visitors to the home page of a site - I prefer a landing page. Anyway, all the "old" links send visitors to bgo's home page due to what I believe to be a "lazy" job on the redirection.

Clicks are not showing in the reports at all. However, there are registrations and conversions.

I did go through the reports and it _appears_ as if most of the players were migrated. I found an obvious discrepancy with February 2015 but the other months match up for number of players (98.3% accuracy over the last 12 months).

I am curious regarding what will happen to the players who registered but did not deposit. Are they also transferred to our respective accounts so when/if they convert, we are credited?

My BGO links are going to a blank white screen, and I'm unable to change my links for a few days. 1 month's notice to change turned into about 2 days. BGO were a great performer, and now they've just fcked up my first weeks stats.

A few others in conversation mentioned getting a blank white screen as well. I just retested mine, and they all get me to the bgo site (clicks still not reporting).

I'd immediately reach out to Al over the white page issue.

I'd immediately reach out to Al over the white page issue.
I've emailed them, so see what they come up with.
I'm away from home, and all the free wi-fi spots I've tried block most of the sites I visit.

I'm wondering if that is the cause of your seeing a dead page on click...

It seems that banner clicks are showing but regular links are not.

It is the PPC link I should use, right ?

    Quick update....

My banner clicks are showing in stats but not my text link clicks.

So I don't know if they are being tracked or its just a visual bugg in the stats.

Will contact Allan today and see what he says.
