Based on my personal experience, social media plays a vital role in establishing trust and driving referral traffic to websites. In this context, they prove to be quite beneficial. For instance, it becomes simpler to identify the responsible party for website content when the author maintains an active presence on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. This, in turn, enhances the website's credibility compared to one authored by an anonymous individual.

Furthermore, social media platforms offer the potential to draw a larger user base to your website, and these users can often convert effectively.

However, it's important to note that I cannot definitively assert that social media directly contributes to improved search engine ranking.

Social media by itself doesn't help, but it can be a good tool to utilize in order to trick Google into thinking that your site has gone viral. Also, I use Social Media a lot in order to send traffic to my pages that are not ranking well and doesn't have much traffic. By doing this, I can then justify sending links to those pages and get those pages "unstuck" in Google.

For the gambling niche it's always tricky to get a good social media following, but I would recommend utilize platforms like YT, Twitch, Kick, etc.

Social networks can bring indirect benefits or traffic to your websites, which can definitely add credibility to your sites.

I don't think social media directly help any site to rank better. However it can have positive effect on branding and brand visibility.

Social media has no direct influence on your rankings according to Google itself, but the indirect effects, such as more visitors, link building and a more recognizable brand, are clear and valuable for your SEO strategy.

Social media does not directly improve search rankings, but it helps SEO in an indirect way. Active profiles increase brand visibility, bring more traffic and create opportunities for people to share your content. When content gets more attention, it can attract natural backlinks and this supports SEO results. Social media works well together with SEO even though it is not a direct ranking factor.

Of course, traffic from social networks affects a website’s trust. Search engine bots analyze site traffic, and for them, traffic coming from social media is a positive signal.

It can give some boost, but i know 3 sites, with aprox 5.000 monthly brand traffic on google search, that get almost zero traffic from other commercial keywords. And their sites are well built for SEO.

Google Algorithm has aprox 15.000 ranking factors, there was a leak last year with their algo.

It has no direct impact but it helps send signals to Google that leverages your rankings. Also, having backlinks from X, FB, Pinterest etc. is a good thing for Domain rating.

    Hi everyone,
I totally agree that credibility is key in this industry. I’ve personally set up pages on Facebook, Instagram, Medium, and Pinterest to support my site. So far, I’ve noticed that Facebook seems to be performing the best for me in terms of engagement.
I’m curious to hear from the rest of you – which platforms are you finding most effective right now? Are you seeing similar results with Facebook, or are there other channels you’d recommend focusing on?
    Best,
    Sara

The conversion is low and you have to be very careful with your campaigns, so they don't get banned. Anyway, it is still a good option if you can't get organic traffic

Yes but not in the ways people think it does. You won't get much traffic or conversions unless you've been doing it for many years. What you do get it trust. Google is all about trust these days.

I don’t see social media as a direct SEO win, but it definitely helps. In iGaming, good social activity can bring eyeballs, branded searches, and the occasional natural link - and that’s where the real value is.

So for me, it’s more of a support channel than an SEO tactic on its own.

As others have written here - you can get inbound links from social networks to your site. I mean backlinks, of course.

There are a few things you should know about these links:

    • It doesn't matter to Google whether they are nofollow or dofollow. Sometimes you can see links that are nofollow in your search console and links that are dofollow don't appear at all.
    • Some social networks don't like too many links, so it's better to be careful, otherwise they will block you.
    • The links can appear in posts that are themselves in the search results, which can increase the number of visitors to your site.

Not a direct ranking factor but two indirect effects I'd say are real, based on what I see in GSC after social campaigns:

    1. Brand search lift. Social mentions push people to type your brand into Google. That branded query volume change shows up in GSC Performance over a few weeks and Google appears to treat it as a trust signal.

    2. Faster indexation through X (Twitter) specifically. Googlebot crawls X very aggressively. A new post shared on X with a link
usually gets indexed within 24 hours, vs days when I'm relying
    only on sitemap pings.

The "social shares directly boost rankings" version is the myth. But the downstream signals are real and worth a small budget.
