Default Are Electronics taking over your life?

I swear, I get so sick of this!

I'm sitting here at my desk today, with 1 land phone, 1 new cell phone & 1 old cell phone, 1 earpiece, 1 new digital camera, 2 TV remotes, and of course, the (fairly new) PC desktop setup. Things are taking turns getting recharged, the PC is restarting every 2 minutes as I install & update, and I'm still no closer than I was 2 hours ago to getting the pictures downloaded off my new camera.

When did it get so complicated???? I know some of you are electronics buffs, but I'm not - I only learn what I have to, in order to get done what I need to.

And I have one question I've been asking for years - Why can't they make things so that they all work the same? Why can't all stereos work the same, with the same buttons? And remotes, and cameras, and phones, and computers, and printers, and the list goes on and on and on and on.... Would it be so detrimental to their business to make it easier for us?

Part of my frustration today is because I've been on a "search & destroy" mission shopping for the last 2-3 months, and I have so much new stuff, I can't keep up with learning it all; or putting it all together. I told my extended family (at a picnic yesterday) that I was going to have a "put together" party, where they could all come help me put all this crap together, and I'd feed them. I currently have a sewing center with about 1000 pieces to put together, a cat tree, a couple of shelving units on the way, and some furniture for my niece. They didn't go for it.

Oh yeah, I even have a new puppy and I have to learn how to work him, too.

Lol... was the first post I read coming back from my holidays... and already feel home at the GPWA again. Hehe...

I can understand your frustrations... imagine now that you are a 70+ year old... and have to learn how to operate a new TV and VCR... Had to install that once for my grandmother and then go through it all... she had to write down notes of what button to press first... then what channel to change to for the VCR then what button to press for selecting the right channel on the VCR... then what button to press to start recording it etc. And then of course she also had to learn what buttons to press to be able to watch the program she recorded... way to much info...

And then imagine a 4 year old... click click click... and off he is watching his DVD of Bob the Builder or the Little Mermaid... Unless of course he messes it up... then mummy or daddy can get the manual out to find out how to sort out the mess.

Get rid of the TVs, that will cut down on the complexity, and give you more time to learn how to use the other stuff.

Ah, that it were so simple. The 2 remotes are actually for 1 TV, which is on playing XM Satellite Radio.

Unfortunately no, but my visiting nephew has a cell phone that he's trying to control the TV & my computer with.

    Now...imagine your power goes off!!

That's what happened to me today. Sunny and not a cloud in the sky, but the whole town lost power for about 1-1/2 hours. I would up cleanig out my closets!!
