EU rules IP addresses are personal data
EU regulators have ruled that IP addresses should be regarded as personal information, which means they are entitled to privacy protections. This might have legal implications in terms of how ip addresses are collected and stored and could reshape the way data privacy issues are thought of....

Good one Buzz been waiting for this one!! Unless granted any invasion of a personal P.C is illegal as well. This is why when people download stuff always read the T&C's. Most would be quite surprised what they are agreeing to. Tracking the IP is not necessarily the problem. But capturing the PC's identity is where the real problem lies I think.
