Default Scientific Breakthrough: A Hangover-Free Beer

A group of Australian scientists may have solved one of man's age-old problems — how to prevent a hangover.

A team at Griffith University's Health Institute created hangover-free beer by adding electrolytes to two finished brews. The researchers used two commercially-made beers — a light and a regular beer — and tested their hydration qualities by giving them people who had just exercised...

Always the Aussies.. That should tell you how much Aussies love their drink.

If you take BCAAs before you drink it should prevent the hangover too. Never tried it but a few people in the office swear by it.

obviously if you bollock it down you'll still know you had a drink but some of the best drinks I've had is 'clean' German lager brewed under the German Purity Laws, this means they can only have 4-5 ingredients so there is no chemical crap involved in it, which certainly increases a hangover

another good thing to do is have a milk thistle tablet before you go drinking

Most unpopular idea for everyone other than the person who is doing it.

I can't tell you how many people try to convince you to drink when you tell them you're not drinking. Almost like they will feel like more of a person if you are drinking with them. It's more annoying than being around drunk people when you're sober!

that is interesting. It makes sense since drinking dehydrates you. I am not much of a drinker, maybe once a month, but when I do drink I feel horrible the next day.

As you can probably tell from some posts I am quite a heavy social drinker, I go out at 12 midday on friday and bang as many pints down me till im close to death and usually get home about 9pm. Every now and again I go completely dry and not drink for a few weeks ( I did 7 weeks last October and 6 weeks when I came back from New Zealand in March) but still go out. Everyone looks at you like you've gone mental, forever asking why, by about 4pm when people start getting more cheerful i the time I have to do one when sober, does my head right in

Everybody that likes to drink and get a buzz should try out lumosity.com. A neuroplasticity high is amazing, you can try for free but the yearly subscription is like 80 bucks. At the same time I like to have a few drinks every once in a while, don't get me wrong. But keeping your mind 100% straight is the best way to make money and enjoy life IMO.

Again I like to drink sometimes so I may come off hypocritical because I do not practice what I say 100%. But then again not many people do,

Well I been there done that, got the scars and almost the headstone to prove it.....

I still have the occassional drink, even though I haven't for a while, and have been known to tip a few at a conference, but haven't been to one in years.....

....but I am sure I will likely have a drink or two this decade.....maybe.....lol

Yea it is fun at times to sit with those having a few and watch attitudes and such change over the course of the night.....

that is what I like to see, when others drink how they act. It shows if they are really a friend or foe

At what age did people find their hangovers get progressively worse?

For example when I was 18 (I never drunk before that age, I promise!), I would wake up usually hangover free, and year on year I found hangovers got 10% worse each time.

I will be honest, now that I don't drink as much and my body is a burning machine, I don't really suffer from hangovers when I do drink.
When I was young I had horrible hangovers. I would always be sick and it would take me days to recover.

Well this is a huge breakthrough, but if hangovers make some people stop drinking so much then I wonder how muhc the number of drunk’s will increase.

Never had a hangover until I was 25. Day after my birthday I woke up thinking I had a brain tumour and it's all been downhill since then - even walking past a pub makes my head hurt in the morning these days...
