Default Forget virtual reality, bring on Mixed Reality

The next big thing, will likely not be virtual reality which was discussed in this thread.

Nor will it probably be augmented reality, although Microsoft has made greats strides toward that and may well be to market with it first.

After seeing a few stories on this, and reading up on it, I think "Mixed Reality" will be the real game changer. This will mix current reality and where you are with a virtual world giving you the feeling that the virtual is there with you in your home with your coffee table beside you on the couch.

In fact, the company company that has made the most progress is not even in Silicon Valley, they are in Florida. It looks like a LOT of people agree since the company has either surpassed or gotten close to the single largest c-round of financing ever, over 793.5 million in financing.

This looks really interesting since gamers will be able to battle their nemesis right in their own living rooms, and the education and medical possibilities are almost endless.

Thinking of some of the gambling potential, I could see this being a faster development cycle possibly, since the devs will not have to also development the gaming environment, just the game itself. The slot can appear as if it is in your living room or office, you will not have to visit the virtual casino at all.

This is still a little time away, and some of the things learned with the devices that are hitting the market now and later this year will help drive the development but watching a few reports on this shows more promise I think than even standard VR.

As an example, one point I remember the CBS reporter made was, imagine traveling to China on vacation, and putting on the goggles or MR device and seeing the real road sign, in the real world countryside, in English or your native language.

I wrote it in the previous thread, but went to some presentation of Augmented reality company, it was quite amazing: you place the goggles and sit in front of a regular table and it turns into a blackjack table - with a dealer and everything.

Well that's cool, now if it was augmented reality, you should have also been aware of other items as well as people etc with your surroundings.

I read an article the other day about this, (forgot to save the link) and the girl said that she always felt dizzy using some VR goggles but that this did not make her dizzy.
