Default Its Bonfire night - Enjoy.

Well, one of the best nights of the year here in blighty!

We get to burn the effigy of Guy Fawkes who tried to blow up the houses of parliament all those years ago.

Sometimes i feel like going down there and blowing them up myself i have to admit.

There will be fireworks exploding and lighting up the night sky all over the UK with bonfires lit in many back gardens and public spaces.

Sadly, my grandchildren are not impressed with fireworks and this years bonfire barbeque will not be on so Chalkie will be in the garden watching everyone elses. Thats probably a good thing as it will save me hundreds of pounds on an hours worth of lighting and retreating.

Within the next few days there will surely be the annual very foggy night due to this fiasco where we cannot see infront of our noses.

What with the fireworks creating so many injuries, people getting injured by bonfires and the obvious accidents caused by the fog over the remaining few days, perhaps it would have been much better had guy fawkes succeeded.

I have missed this historical day of the attempt to blow up the "Houses of Parliment" in the UK for over 25 years now...............how time fly's when your having fun in GPWA....................lol

The actual sales to the public should have been banned years ago and if you want to freeze your "ASS" off watching the burning of "Guy Fawkes" then today it should be only at organised events by each city council in the UK..............and save all those needless injuries of burnt fingers etc

Light the blue touch paper and stand well back............never go back and check a dud firework pls

Hot potatoes & chilli sauce.................yummy yum

Sounds like any average night in West Brom, Chalkie! only it's usually the abandoned cars, sofas dumped on the front yard and bus shelters that are a-flame!

Fireworks? No that's the sound of Gunfire and police helicopters!

Haha, all in good fun, mate

My dad was actually from West Brom area, Oldbury/Langley way, and his side of the family were all baggies fans (phew, close escape ) he lived in St Michaels' Crescent, just down the road from the Hen & Chickens.

I never lived down that way myself but weirdly enough, I got my first ever job in gaming, with mansion.com, after a telephone interview from Gibraltar whilst I was sat in a car in the McDonald's Drive Thru car park opposite the Hawthorn's football ground!

LOL, i got chucked off that car park once. Spent 5 minutes on the phone with the intention of having a burger afterwards. Security guard told me it was a customer car park not a mobile phone sanctuary and to **** off!

So, you are a member of the Black country clan after all! You really should have a soft spot for the baggies you know!

Just to give an idea of some parts around here:

I drove down a street once and there was a romany gypsy caravan on the front lawn of the house, now nothing that unusual there, however, something struck me as not being right so i did a u turn for a second look.

OMG, the people were living in the caravan and the 2 horses were stabled in the front room of the house!

Must point out that there are actually decent parts in the region still, its not all bad!

    Hi Guys,

I remember how the Old Blighty was back in "HULL" many years ago when the fish markets were at the highest and Hessle Road was boomong with life and the smell of freshly caught fish drifting in the air............lol

I get back to Hull at least once a year to see family and friends............its an eye opener to see how the city has changed and is changing all the time.

Getting home sick now.................have a great weekend to all
