Boy, never thought Buzzy would say it, but we miss Jon Kyl! The long-time Arizona Senator was one of the original Internet gambling haters, but a year or two before he retired he decided that online poker-only legislation (that would clearly make other forms of online gambling illegal) might be the best way forward.

He worked hard to get Republicans in the Senate on board, too. But he retired last year, leaving a void that lobbyists are trying hard to fill.

"... this is a national issue, not just a Nevada or a New Jersey bill, so the conventional wisdom is we need someone outside of the states of Nevada and New Jersey to help be in the lead. I say the more, the better, for this or any issue,” said former Rep. Jon Porter (R-Nev.), the president of Porter Gordon Silver Communications who has lobbied for gaming interests in the past.
