Default Germany "Targeting" Online Gamblers | Fine Player 65,000

A 25-year-old German blackjack player has been fined €65,000 for patronizing a Gibraltar-based site that holds a United Kingdom license.

The player in question had amassed €201,500 in winnings this past summer.

The size of his five withdrawals alerted authorities in Germany, where it is illegal to engage in such activities under the Intestate Treaty on Gambling 2012 (ISTG).

“Whosoever participates in a public game of chance (Section 284) shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding six months or a fine not exceeding 180 daily units.”

This represents the first time an actual online gambler has been punished under the law. Despite the restrictions, it is estimated that Germans make up a significant percentage of the Web gambling market.

The gambler, who was not named, pointed to German tennis legend Boris Becker and the Munich football team as being sponsors of the site in question.

Your offer in the middle of a post? That doesn't look very professional, but rather spammy - attracting attention with a popular subject (which btw. I think already has a topic on the board) and then inserting something totally unrelated like that.

I agree with CasinoOnlineRating. You post interesting topics, then fill it with spam. Sometimes less is more.

This is the actual Gambling911 source for the article.

This is the actual GPWA post where this news was first shown on this forum, which I might add is free of advertising.

    Hello

I can fully understand where you are coming from on our ads .....but Tthe last time i looked this was forum where casinos pay to advertise their affiliate program direct to casino affiliate sites .....That said if this was forum about cars or computers you would have a very valid point ....

Please remember this is a thread that we started and Panther Casino we have paid GPWA a fee to be able to advertise our affiliate program.

I do thank you for the positive comment that we do post good articles but business is business and if my ad inserts offend you then you do have a choice not to read our articles.

That said i will try to make the ads smaller and i really hope that you continue to read our articles.

You're certainly the most straight-talking affiliate program on here, and that's not a bad thing. Your ads don't offend me, but you kind of ruin the topic when you post an article then have an ad in the middle which is sometimes bigger than the article you've posted.

There is an entire forum dedicated to Panther Casino Affiliate where ALL members can view and a great place to put specials and updates.

There is also an entire forum dedicated to ALL Sponsor Affiliate programs where all programs can advertise specials and promotions.

In addition all active GPWA Members have the ability to put a small advertisement or marketing blurb in their signature that will show on all posts made. This would likely be the most appropriate place to draw attention to your commission rate and weekly payments which you so often load discussions with.

For more than 10 years we have tried to limit the discussions within threads (especially those concerning industry news and issues affecting affiliates world wide) to the discussions without additional advertising and promotions.

Obviously the discussions and threads that are started by affiliates requesting additional information and responses from program representatives covering specific needs will tend to have responses of a somewhat promotional nature.

    /back on track
This was actually quite a surprise when Leopold first posted about this and I thank him for detailing the law itself that was used in this suit. I wonder if this was used as an attempt to try and scare players or to help draw the attention of operators to the laws and licensing districts and reforms they are pushing.

In my opinion I think there was more motivation behind this then just a case of what they want everyone to think was player protection.
