    Default Goegraphical linking?

    Hi all, its been way too long.
    I hope everybody is well!

    I'm wondering what the possibility is of having a linking script that sends a USA visitor to a US friendly casino and a UK visitor to a UK friendly casino?

    is this wishful thinking of does such a thing exist..

    Kind regards,

    Blair H

    How ya doing Blair?

    Yes this does exist, you would want to do an ip check at the visitor's arrival, which would then be compared to a geographic ip list and show only ads or links pertinent to that query.

    We have a few threads here that cover the subjects, so some diligent searches will help in that. Pluse someone may be able to post up some current information that will help you with this.

    The concept is excellent, however perhaps I may be wrong about what cloaking is, and that it is a blackhat SEO. I know that is not what @T3eddyblair is implying.

    I always thought if a person put a script in to redirect users to a certain place it is consider cloaking. Wouldn't that be considered cloaking by engines and looked at in a negative manner?

    Not really - cloaking a link is fine. In fact it's standard practice to make them more user friendly and allow you to modify a link once instead of hundreds of times when the aff program decides they're changing their tracking links. Just run it through an internal folder (eg: /go/) and block it in robots.txt.

    I think what you're referring to is where a different page is returned to the user than shown to google. This is dodgy and will get your site binned pretty quick (with the obvious exceptions of geotargetting and device targeting which is fine as you're treating google the same way you would any other user, just basing it on location etc..).

    To get to the OP's question - yes there are plenty of ways of doing it, but to do this you should really be geotargetting the page or advert to the user, not just the link (eg: if you have a link for Sky Vegas that when clicked takes a US player to Club World without any explanation, your conversions would be terrible - of course you could always put an intermediary splash page saying that Sky doesn't accept players from their country and suggest an alternative, but that's a different matter).

    There are various plug ins and ad serving software you can use, or if you know php you can code it yourself. If you let us know how your site is set up (eg: wordpress) as well as what you want to do exactly (eg: serve a different list of casinos or just geotarget some banners) I'm sure people will be able to give more accurate advice!

    I've just started out on Wordpress, but I use a plugin called WP-Insert. This creates geotargetted ads, and was easy to set-up. Simply use various ad codes for each location you are targetting, for example on mine Sky Vegas appears to British visitors, and LocoPanda to American visitors.
    I wasn't able to find a non-PHP way of doing it, so if your host doesn't allow PHP you may struggle.

    @Rick, doing well mate.. Iv been focusing on the After-market car niche and not doing to badly(selling leads)
    But Iv been missing the gambling Niche so iv been dragged back in by a mate and we are seeing who can rank best and make the quickest profits within a year for a certain casino. Should be a fun project.

    Ill have a search and see what pops up, Thanks

    @baldidiot
    Well im using wordpress for ease, SEO purposes and and and...
    I'm only going to be promoting one Casino, but as most do the signup pages vary for different parts of the globe/currency. So I was hoping to not make the website look like a banner farm and just opt for one clean looking banner per page and have it send the potential customer to the correct currency page.

    @Gambling Joe
    Thanks I actually use a similar plugin on my other sites and completely forgot about it :/
    does your let you track clicks to the various links?

    Thanks to all so far for your feedback, will let you know how i get on.

    Kind regards,

    Blair H
