Default Google eliminating need for Google+ account

Google is making more changes on the path to effectively killing Google+. In a blog post Monday, the company announced that they will no longer force Google users to also have a Google+ account in order to share content.

What are your thoughts? Buzzy's still trying to figure out MySpace.

We already knew Google+ is a dud, this is just confirming it.

Don't bother with Google+. Wait until Google rolls out a similar social product.

I don't know what will this do to authorship, which is something Google is deeply interested in, and is using it as a ranking factor. Google will probably find another way to promote content authorship and will not do it through the Google+ platform as it's a failed product.

When G+ was young it had amazing effectiveness for ranking. But yes, waiting for the next type of authorship, maybe this time it will be more worth it long term. Until then I don't bother with social networks much after Facebook closed two of my pages.
