advertising on facebook, does it work? should i target males only?

hello all, awesome site, i am learning so much from members and going back to read old posts

I have created a page that will have tipster competitions and also just added a betting articles section

my question is, does advertising on facebook work? will it bring in visitors? also, what percentage of women gamble? should i target only men? i dont want people taking part in the competitions just for the gifts, i only want actual sports bettors, so should i exclude women? should i use the sites fb and twitter pages to promote the site through likes and twits? i am afraid that again will bring in unnecessary traffic, i dont want competitions clattered by people not interested in gambling

also one more question if i may. what is a good number of articles to add to the site every day?

Unless you are a massive bookie or have an agreement with Facebook they won't let you advertise gambling related stuff on the paid adds. There was a post about it on here somewhere.

really? 2 years ago i had another gambling related website and i facebook let me advertise, did things change?

i dont give out tips and its not a banner farm, i run competitions and have sports articles

Gambling Applications:Developers may operate a "For Fun" App displaying a gambling brand as long as:

It is clear through either the branding (e.g., “[insert name of gambling company] For Fun”) or the name of the App (“[insert name of gambling company] Free Poker”) that the App is a “for fun only” game.
The App does not link in any way to a gambling site.
Earnings within the App can’t be cashed out in any way, including being converted into credit that may be used to gamble online or at a casino.

Lotteries:Lottery commissions licensed or sponsored by government entities may advertise, use Sponsored Stories, host a Page, or administer a promotion on Facebook subject to the targeting restrictions below:

Ads and Sponsored Stories must target users above the age of 18 years old who are in the jurisdiction that controls the lottery commission. For example, the New York lottery can only advertise or sponsor in the state of New York.
Pages must gate access to users above the age of 18 years old who are in the jurisdiction that controls the lottery commission.

thank you for posting, reading that it doesnt seem that it describes my site at all, as i said, its games and sports articles, no bet tips, no promoting gambling

do you have any opinion about my queries?

Facebook changed a LOT in 2 years

2 years ago you could promote weightloss with naked bodies for instance. Today you can't promote anything with a banner just showing a bit of skin (minus a few exception who manage to trick the system). So yep, most likely they also banned gambling. That does not mean you can't try, i'll try to post here a few i saw past few days (mostly forex though), you may learn from that.

On mobile Gambling App are very well promoted for example. Not much help for affiliates though

Now just in terms of targetting, yes you could eventually have a very narrowed down target with Facebook by targetting people who added Casino or gambling in their interest, who like some casino pages, etc... Lots of options. Gambling being mostly entertainment, it could work as i believe facebook ads only work when you call for a LIKE or promote something entertaining.

I have advertised previously but tried it again a few weeks ago and was declined for promoting gambling. Yet Paddy William Hill Betfred Betfair pop up all the time. I guess it's a budget thing now.

I only started mine last week and did a £300 total budget, suppose it's just the wording?

I'd be interested to know how it's going, I haven't tried it at all yet as been put off by all the posts saying you need 10k budget. Did your ad wordings have anything with the word bet in them, for example? Also the group/page name did it have anything to do with betting in the wording?

I did it for a few months, marketpalce ads, promoted posts, fan generation and suddenly a week ago i received an email from Facebook support saying that my new ads were rejected becasue of the gambling content which is not allowed etc. Since then all my ads or promoted posts are getting dissaproved....so i guess its a matter of getting under their radar or someone reporting you...

I hear facebook ads are not as effective as they don't do enough to lower their inflated click rates which result in higher costs and less results

I got away with it for several months and then they suspended all the ads. I left it a long time and tried again and they threatened to suspend the account totally. So it is fine until they catch up with you. Doesn't work anyway, except for likes.

I've seen various affiliates with "Offers" Again, unsure how this is happening?

My account was disabled to create adverts, when I tried, annoying.

So ads on FB sounds like a mixed bag and on an 'if you can get away with it' basis. I'll give it a go and report my experiences.

Did you get anywhere with this?

I have read a few posts now that are just saying it's almost impossible now unless your'e paying 5+ figures a month.

I am pretty sure that facebook does not allow certain keywords related to gambling in their adverts. Read their advertisement guides (although they are not that clear!)

Yeah, I was thinking more about if anyone has found ways of advertising and avoiding getting noticed...
