just curious, today ..google australia, search word "slots", my site aussie-slots.com is 13 years old finally turns up on page 72, this site ..onlineslotsaction.com ( just over 1 month old ) is on first page for keyword slots. What am I missing ,or is it time to give up , what do you think ?

I would spend some time trying to figure out what is different between your two sites.

First place to look with a 13 year old site... your backlinks.
Can't stress this enough... clean up your old inbound link profile.

The only way a new site is going to outrank an much older site is if the older site has a backlink profile that hurts it's own ranking...

Looks to me like link trades you did in the past are now popping back up to bite you in the ass...

thanks very much for your reply lotso. I,ve been trying to figure it out myself considering 4 months ago we were on page one for that search word and I came to the same conclusion as you. Problem is, none of those backlinks we are seeing originated from me, they have all been picked up by thousands of shareware sites from my PAD files and link to my inner pages where the info and download of the games I wrote are. You could go to just about any shareware site , search for slots and find . Not much I can do about that I guess.
Anyway, once again thanks for your interest.

If you can't get them removed use the disavow tool in google, but make sure you read up on it first

Four months a go you had a big drop in ranks and it looks like your inbound links are the problem... You almost certainly got taken out by google's Panda or Penguin, don't really matter which one. The cure is the same.

You need to go through all your backlinks that google webmaster tools shows and clean out the BAD links(be very careful to remove only links you know are bad).
Use the google webmaster tools backlink disavowal tool to tell google what links you want to get rid of. Be very careful with this tool, you can hurt your site as well as well as help with this tool so be careful.

It is a lot of work and it takes several months to recover, even after submitting a request for re inclusion to google... And yes after you clean up your site you need to submit a re-inclusion request to google.
