Google serps showing tweets

I know this was on on the cards and recall something about Google paying Twitter a few million for direct access to their tweet feed a couple of months back, but just noticed its been added in the serps.

Viewing Google serps on iPhone yesterday, there there was a scroller mid page rotating news results including twitter posts.

Any one else seen this?

Yes, this news is a couple of weeks old, as it has already been in place. Let the spamming begin......Google will have its work cut out for itself, to limit the resultant spam. Not quite sure what they are thinking here....

Facebook profile are only seen as i noticed before. Well if tweets will be considered, it will be good if twitter makes the URL do-follow so that our links will be counts to target page ranks.

Actually I've seen some tweets in search results. Like some few minutes ago, when I entered the word "seesmic" on the search box (for some reviews about Seesmic, a social network site), the latest tweets are somewhere in the 5th spot in the SERP. Probably if a topic is currently being talked about in Twitter, then Google will display those most recent tweets regarding the search query.

That's kind of interesting. I noticed that my twitter profile has a PR of 2. I've just been playing around with twitter, but now it sems that it could end up being a serious marketing tool. So far I've got about 800 followers.

Thanks for this information. I was starting to wonder if Twitter or Facebook entries were worth the time and effort, or if I should be concentrating my energy on some other methods. I will definately look into more tweeting. Thanks again!

It was launched late last year, called "real-time search" and allows results to be sorted by when they were posted online, which puts more emphasis on new content such as news articles, blog postings and Wikipedia updates. But these search results still depends on the account of the users, they should make their accounts public and allow feeds to be published to be included in the search results.
