I don't think that there was a regular update on Keyword rankings. The only update that we're usually waiting is the PageRank. Keywords ranking depends merely on the way you do your link building. Major keywords as it is very competitive, you'll expect a downfall on its ranking. It always happen naturally.

Based on several observations I think it's safe to conclude that a chaos like the current one in the SERPS could only have been caused by the introduction of Caffeine. It went online around Aug 19th-20th. I also think it's safe to conclude it is currently having a pretty nasty time fulfilling the tasks it's supposed to.
Curious how long this period of adjustment will last
