Google's handling of mobile searches

Google is changing the way they handle search returns for mobile searches. And in their Webmaster Central Blog, they spell out two of the most common mistakes webmasters make, faulty redirects and smartphone-only errors. If webmasters make these mistakes, they're going to be hurt in the mobile search results. Webmaster need to head over to this Google blog entry to make sure they're doing things correctly.

Aww man. Thanks for posting this! I do what they say not to do, I redirect everything to my mobile homepage - sigh. Guess I have some reading to do and figure out the right way to do things.

If anyone has read this already, and wants to save me some time, I guess this is how I will handle:

My mobile site only has about 10 pages while my desktop site has about 300. I guess I will let the mobile user stay on the desktop site if they reach a page through search unless they happened to stumble upon a page that is in the mobile site, in which case I will redirect them to that particular mobile page.

Does that make sense?

Thanks for sharing. I realize how often I am online with a mobile device, it makes sense to start really looking at mobile options for visitors.
