Lightbulb The GPWA Forums Have Gone Mobile!

I'm very pleased to announce that the GPWA forums can now be directly accessed from a variety of mobile phones. Currently supported mobile platforms include iPhone, Android, Nokia and Blackberry.

Information about how to install the mobile application on these platforms to enable mobile access can be found on the web at www.tapatalk.com/en/mobile. The application (called tapatalk), developed by the third-party mobile application development firm, is free for read-only access to forums, and has a small fee for the full version that also supports creating and replying to posts and private messages.

It is said that pictures are worth a thousand words, so here are six pictures accessing the GPWA forums using an iPhone and a BlackBerry Storm. Certainly a lot less work than composing a six thousand word post, and probably less boring too.

I think this application is pretty cool. I hope you do too.

This post is living proof the GPWA has gone mobile. I made it using my BlackBerry Storm mobile phone.

    Hey Michael

    This is fantastic!

Can you tell us how much the "small monthly fee" is to be able to reply?

In the United States the fee is USD $2.99 for the iPhone when the mobile application is purchased in the iPhone App Store. Same price in the Android Market and in the Ovi Store for Nokia. It is currently free for the BlackBerry because that version is still in beta. The beta seems to work fine though - that is the version of the application I am using at the moment.

Note that it appears this is a one-time fee. My apologies for stating in the original announcement that it was a monthly fee. Seems I was wrong about that.

Currently I know that PAL also allows access to their forum using the software. We had to install and test the server part of the application on our end in order to make the GPWA forum accessible through the third-party tapatalk application. Anyone running a vBulletin forum (version 3.7 or greater) or phpBB forum (version 3) can install this application to make their forum accessible through mobile devices.

Well if it's free for the BB there's no reason why I shouldn't do it!

Are you sure its a monthly fee?

I just download the free version of Tapatalk now, and I looked in the app store and there is a paid version but as far as I can tell it is £1.79 one off payment, I can not see any mention of it being recurring charge.

Anyway cool app, I will be able to snoop more often now.

I think you are correct that it is a one-time fee. I have edited my prior posts to remove references to it being a monthly fee. Definitely a very good deal as a one-time fee from my perspective.

OK so it seems there are still a few bugs on the blackberry beta software...

Even though my post has shown here, the BB is still telling me that it's "Loading" since I pressed submit for my post...

Also, when I first got into the forums I tried to open the first thread and it kept throwing an exception and closing the program.

Martyn, I think you need to go to the Tapatalk app, rather than GPWA. Haven't done it myself and just a guess.

Once you get the app, you have to search for Gambling Portal Webmasters Association not GPWA.

I just bought Tapatalk in the Android market for a one time $2.99 fee. I'm making this post now with my HTC Droid Eris so for the price, you can't beat it.

    Hi Michael

Thanks for the confirmation, I will probably buy this app then, I have been using it to read the forum but would be nice to be able to participate too.

I tried using the beta again but it says now that the beta has been disregarded so I will have to pay for it now..

Might have to do that over the weekend.

Fabulous new feature of community and something I always wanted in the deep dark distant past. Does anyone know if I can download APP via Verizon Storm 2?
