Everyone has heard the hype about twitter. Today I'm pleased to announce that at the GPWA the hype isn't just hype anymore. We just rolled out the first of a number of projects that will bring twitter into the mainsteam at the GPWA.
Over the past several months we have been planning and building features centered around twitter. We started with a back-end system that harvests tweets, saves them in a database, and ties them together with information we have about those doing the tweeting. So now when an affiliate program tweets some information for their affiliates we keep the tweet and associate the tweet in our database with the affiliate program making the tweet.
On the GPWA home page we now display a chirpstream of recent affiliate program tweets, and we have an archive of past tweets by GPWA sponsor affiliate programs linked to off the home page and also from a new item in our top navigation under affiliate programs named tweets. And of course we also display recent tweets by a sponsor program on their sponsor page together with a link to their past history of tweets.
The project has just gotten underway so we only have twitter accounts for about 20 affiliate programs associated with the corresponding program right now. But we'll be adding more as we find them, and as folks let us know about affiliate programs that have twitter accounts for affiliate-related tweets we're missing. The system we have in place gathers the complete history of tweets for new twitter accounts when they are added so we expect to soon have a comprehensive chirpstream archive that includes all tweets made by any affiliate program.
We'll also be building other chirpstreams. One example will be tweets for online gaming sites associated with sponsor programs so you will be able to see them all in one place, without doing any work yourself. Same thing for GPWA webmasters who have twitter accounts and would like their tweets to be published in a collection of GPWA webmaster tweets. Of course, if you want to maintain your own set of twitter accounts that you follow you can certainly do that using twitter directly, and we will faciliate you in that effort by providing details of existing published twitter accounts related to iGaming conveniently organized in one place.
And if you happen to be an affiliate program that has been tweeting, and we don't currently show your tweets (or even if you aren't an affiliate program but know of one we are missing), just send a pm to cityguard with the twitter account name, or post the twitter account name in this thread, and we'll be sure to add it right away.
