Lightbulb GPWA Sponsor Affiliate Program Code of Conduct

The contracts the GPWA has executed with sponsor affiliate programs over the past half-year have all referenced our sponsor code of conduct. As part of a general upgrade to the affiliate program section of our site we've decided it is time to publish the code of conduct for all to see.

If you click on the "Affiliate Programs" navigation item, you will see that we've added three subnavigation menu items.

The first menu item goes to our directory of sponsor affiliate programs. We've updated this section to include a new introduction that better explains the benefit of working with GPWA sponsor affiliate programs.

The second menu item goes to a newly enhanced affiliate program gaming site search. We introduced this search tool six weeks ago, but we've added a number of new features. You can now search for sites that use software from a particular gaming software vendor, and we have also expanded searching for gaming sites by language so you can separately find sites that have website support in a specified language or that have their games in a specified language. We hope these new features will make it even easier for GPWA members to select sponsor affiliate program gaming sites to promote.

The third menu item takes you to the GPWA sponsor code of conduct. The code of conduct states the standards sponsor affiliate programs have agreed to follow. While we cannot guarantee that every sponsor program will comply with their commitment, we can guarantee that if they don't, you will be able to bring it to the attention of the affiliate program and other GPWA members in the private forum we have created for each sponsor affiliate program. If you do not already have access to the private forums, then we encourage you to apply to upgrade your membership so you can see what members have to say about the various affiliate programs and so you can share your own views with other members.

    That's quality work Michael.

Items #2, #3 and #4 are key components that any affiliate would be looking for in a program that they were choosing.

A couple of weeks ago I asked exactly what being a "sponsor" of GPWA meant and whether it was an implied endorsement. I can see through this update that it is a specific endorsement and a requirement for sponsors to perform at an acceptable level.

Kudos to GPWA and the sponsors taking part in the program.
This does set you up on a higher level in my eye.

I'll be choosing my next program from the GPWA list !!

I'll take a look at the details another day... But wanted to just stress how important this is. At times, it seemed like there were more and more sponsors from groups I knew nothing about. I really hope the programs understand how important trust is in this business!

Thanks Michael, it's a very nice idea. So, if an affiliate program doesn't follow these rules what will GPWA do?

Our first step will be to discuss the situation with the affiliate program in the hopes of reaching an amicable resolution that results in the program taking appropriate action to comply with the code of conduct. I believe we will be successful with such an approach more often than not.

If that does not work then I expect we will document the situation as we see it and as the program sees it, seek input from GPWA members, and then take appropriate action based on the particular facts and circumstances. In some cases appropriate action might be simply documenting that the program does not do a good job of complying in a particular area. In other cases appropriate action might be revoking certain sponsorship privileges (such as the right to display the GPWA sponsor seal we will be launching soon) or revoking sponsorship altogether.
