Good one! When twenty years old I visited California there to compete for freestyle BMX. Anyway upon registering the event organizer could not believe we actually could ride bikes in Canada. He thought Canada was one big chunk of glacier and we lived in igloos.

Still to this day your average Canadian feels the U.S knows very little about Canada or the rest of the world. As the CNN broadcaster put it after Canada's hockey team winning the Olympic Gold against the U.S "Stop the bragging us Americans are pretty ethnocentric".

And who has the largest oil deposit in the world? Ah that would be Canada lol.

HILARIOUS! As an American myself I concur that with pgaming, a lot of people from the States don't know enough about Canada. I think the Vancouver Olympics helped a bit with that (despite CNN commentary), so hopefully your next trip to California will be better.

Seriously though, not sure if it's just here but the youtube clips that come out every month or so showing an american pointing to Australia when asked to point to Iraq on a map really make us think that stuff like this could be real...

And the miss south carolina (i think) girl going on about south africa when asked about something to do with "why do you think X% of americans cant point to the US on a map"
