Ongame adapts same rakeback strategy as Bodog Network

Ongame poker network has made an announcement about rakeback that is very similar to what Patrik Selin and Jonas Odman have mapped out for Bodog Network...reward the recreational players and the operators that bring them in as opposed to rewarding the sharks (who are winning tons of money from the recreational players anyway!)

We at CalvinAyre.com think that this strategy will be very good for the industry and we're delighted to see other operators adopting the same strategy...

I also agree, that is a very good strategy. With that, many recreational players will be more happy to return and play at the site.

It’s entirely possible that the folks at Ongame simply recognized that Patrik and the Bodog Network had come up with a damn good idea, and so the guys wearing the Ongame speedos were only too happy to swim in Patrik's wake.

Well in my opinion, since Patrik Selin once ran the Ongame Network, his men maybe more than willing to follow his (or the Bodog Network's) ideas.

from what i read of the ongame strategy, it seems pretty dicey.

i think the biggest issue with these systems is finding a way to communicate them clearly and transparently to the massive 'middle class' of online poker players who parse bonuses and the like very carefully.

if those players can't determine their likely return on their play, i think a room risks losing those players.
