Default Why do I get junk in my PM box?

I'm just wondering if it is common to receive spam in your PM box here at GPWA?

I received a PM a couple weeks back with nothing but ads and links to a members site. I thought this was isolated so deleted and ignored it. However, I just received an other one.

    What is up with this?

This does occur from time to time, and we do our best to follow up on reports of this and make sure the senders are familiar with the appropriate use of the PM system (for individual contact rather than bulk contacting). If a problem persists after the explanation, further action is taken (up to closing the account).

If the latest message you refer to was from WPT Affiliates, please note that I've explained the appropriate use to IronMan2000 and he has posted apologies in the Spam Hall of Shame and Chatter Box areas.

Spam Hall of Shame apology: https://www.gpwa.org/forum/not-intentional-171283.html
    Chatter Box apology: https://www.gpwa.org/forum/not-intentional-171284.html

If the message was from someone else, please forward me a copy and I'll follow up.

I have become numb to the daily spam I receive (not at gpwa). I block some and like grey hairs, you get rid of one and 40 more show up. I get very little spam at GPWA which is very refreshing.

If you do get spam, let CityGuard know..he has a sword..wait..what is that? lol

How terribly dorky that I know the weapon being held by the avatar. It's a halberd. But don't make me use it in combat -- the darn thing would be bigger than I am! I prefer a club and a shield.

Never dorky! It's effective is what it is. Though I would like to see one of those big balls with spikes on it. I think it's called a mace. The spammers will be blown to smithereens lol !

Thanks for keeping us spam free CityGuard.

There is a way to block private messages from a particular account, although doing so will also block you from seeing forum posts from that person.

From both the user control panel screen and the private messaging screen there is an option for "Buddy / Ignore Lists" on the bottom of the left-hand navigation bar. If you select that option you are provided a screen to enter new users for the Ignore list, which will prevent you from seeing a users private messages and posts.

If you'd like to go directly to the page to add people, go to https://www.gpwa.org/forum/profile.php?do=editlist.
