Hard Ranking Drop...

Hello

Beginning January i check my serps and was a lil bit shocked...some keywords drop about 100 positions.
I push my serps ranking with grayhat since years and i know my system is perfect...

But now my ranking is back..with better results

Im alone with this google suprise present ?

Seems your website get slapped by Panda Core update. No drops for me, my websites are still fine.

I also noticed dropdown on all keywords, but just on one of my websites. Approx. 8-10 positions on all keywords for 4-5 days. Everything is back now, with a little better rankings, than before the dropdown

Luckily, I didn't have a drop, I just noticed some movement (smth went up, smth went down), that's it.

Well beside Google there is no human editors. There is commuter system and some time algorithms may mistakes if it's happend with you.

Its not a mistake - its an algorithm update. there have 2 core google updates this month. But apparently they are not linked to Penguin

This is a quality algo update and has not been branded yet - they normally end up being called phantom. So if its not a Panda (Quality) update, it will be Phantom VII I believe.

It seems to focus on page content quality - we have a number of brand terms that have basically disappeared from rankings all together. These pages were listing old bingo sites that were now closed. So you can imagine the quality of material on the page was poor as we literally had a couple of lines about the brand and a graphic which read - 'This Site Is Closed'.

These pages have quite literally bombed as they have no real value and often customers bounce off the page as soon as they see the closed message.

Whats also interesting and will certainly apply to affiliates, is the emphasis on this being an algorithm update suited to brand recognition. Lots of bloggers & advertisers have seen their 'Branded' articles and posts drop in rank.... where the actual company they were advertising has gained rank. Google is essentially a directory and they take the stance that presenting the actual brand is a better strategy than ranking a third party advertiser regardless of how good the SEO is.

So you may notice in the future page 1 of branded serps will feature all things brand related... take ladbrokes as an example. When you search their brand, page 1 is full of their own stuff with no 3rd party advertisers to be seen. Their homepage, twitter, wikipedia, their careers website and so on.

But first and foremost this is a content quality update.

My main website has done well with the recent update which is good. I suppose it means Im doing things right in Googles eyes, hopefully my visitors feel the same way
