Have you been to Malta?

This week many folks in the iGaming industry have gathered in Malta for the 9th annual SiGMA trade show that is taking place now. Between SiGMA, and the large number of iGaming companies with operations in the country, many involved in the industry have been to Malta

So, for this week's poll I ask if you have ever been to Malta.

Personally, I am here right now for SiGMA (the GPWA is at stand BR132). And I believe I have been here five times to attend the event. This is definitely the biggest and best one yet. Besides attending SiGMA, I've spent a few pleasant days relaxing here and exploring the island.

This is my 5th or 6th time in Malta, having previously visited SiGMA and had a few business trips to the island.

To be honest, I am very disappointed with what SiGMA has turned into of late. They are clearly only interested in making profit and don't give a **** about providing real value.

Everybody knows that purchasing a stand/booth and paying for a table or two at the Awards ceremony guarantees you winning an award, there is no merit whatsoever.

And just take a look at how many stands they crammed into the MFCC this year. It's becoming difficult to simply navigate your way around the Expo floor, with so many people present and not enough space between the stands.

Pretty sure I won't be coming next year.

I was actually there last Friday, but not for SiGMA. I was giving a presentation to the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority. Very stressful few days with a lot of travelling. Up at 4am for a flight to London, then flight to Malta, then travel in, presentation at half 3, saw a few friends in the evening then flight back to London 10am on Sat. Still somewhat recovering.

This was my second trip to Malta and both have been flying visits. Previous time I was meant to be over for longer but a death in the family curtailed that trip. I never feel like I've really got a chance to get a feel for the place.

I would have been over for SiGMA representing BetBlocker, but they are charging charities for stands so after an internal discussion we felt the money would be better spent on another conference where we could get a stand for free and spend the same money outfitting it. I like the people running SiGMA, but I have to say I find the decision to charge RG charities for a stand, in light of the fact that they pay to fly ~500 affiliates in to the conference, a challenging one to align.

I would enjoy a trip to Malta.

Personally I have spent a few dozen hours on a video game called ARMA 3. One of the Islands names "Altis" in the game, is a pretty darn accurate replica of Malta.

I think one day I will be able to attend one of these conferences, maybe ill make it a goal for next year!

Always enjoy Malta, fantastic. Great people, food, history and so much more. And of course while there whether for a conference or not always a great way to hook up with great industry friends.

Yes, have been attending SiGMA for two years now. This year was better than the last year, hopefully next time it will be even better!
