Have you actually read that story. No where does it say that the UK - or any other country - is suggesting World War III. In fact, it's a fairly sedate story that says the the USA, UK and even France would be prepared to take military action against Libya. Not for the first time, I may add. Pace: Clinton's ordering of bombing raids on the country 20 odd years back.

The interesting part of the story is that Russia and China would tacitly back this at UN Security Council level, by not utilising their veto.

If you're going to post political stories in the future, my suggestion is a) read them and b) understand them.

Agreed - this is another thread with a misleading headline.
It is almost a strategy designed as linkbait or "Shock Jock " tactics to get attention ?

Libya has no strategic allies in the region, and if Russia and China both allow the proposal to pass then escalation outside Libya seems very, very unlikely.

Either Luis has major problems with the English language and understanding contextual reasoning ...
or he's a new generation of auto-post SPAM bot that posts for links.
or he's been told to get his post rate up - EIGHT posts since 2006 ???

I'm not sure which one it is yet - his reply should tell us ...

One only look at his activity the last few days to figure that one out ... cant be the latter because GPWA doesn't require its sponsors to maintain active forum accounts.

Another fine choice for a "sponsor" ... :head-shake:

What a totally idiotic statement. Is he an affiliate sponsor? If so, he needs to show some responsibility or take a hike.

The only bad thing here is it took so long, largely thanks to Obama The Ditherer. The Libyans have been calling (literally) for this for weeks. Not "rebels", but ordinary people sick of being tortured and killed by Gadaffi. And they were getting desperate with the West's inaction and apparent disinterest.

Cameron and Sarkozy deserve a load of credit for this. Cameron was pushing for a NFZ two weeks ago, and was ridiculed, yet he stuck to his guns (no pun intended) and has now achieved it, and much more besides.

WWIII...go peddle your BS somewhere else.

I’ve been a member of this forum for a long time, not always as a sponsor… I’ve always read the threads that I’m interested about like anyone else… reading is also a way to participate…

Not sure that anyone felt particularly insulted. It's just that - as Arkyt and the Gooner pointed out - the thread felt like a fairly sophisticated spambot.

Clearly that's not the case, so let's move on.

My contention is that the article you posted was very far from apocalyptic and is nowhere near a WW III scenario. After all, the Clinton Administration, which prided itself on at least trying to get Middle Eastern nations talking (I include Israel in that definition) was very aggressive in bombing Libya 20_ years back. We didn't get a third world war then and we are far less likely to get one now.

Your post was not entirely off the mark. France, UK, and US did attack Libya yesterday, and this move could easily escalate into something of a greater magnitude. The Middle East is the tinder box of the world right now, and although I think Ghaddafi is a total nut-job, this act of aggression could easily escalate into something much worse. Hasn't Obama learned anything from the Bush atrocities in Iraq ? That war lead to hundreds of thousands of deaths, and that country is no better off than it was prior to the attacks. I'm not condoning the deaths in Libya, but we really need to mind our own business, and get things right at home first. Utterly disgusted once again.

I thought that had begun already when Bwin changed their terms?

Anyway, my opinion is that although the situation may eventually merit the use of troops and 'boots on the ground' - the manner in which the Iraq 'intervention' was presented to us all means that Western Governments will be loathe to do anything that looks similar. (btw, I think Saddam and his Boys were nothing more than a thuggish mafia family so I'm glad they're gone, whatever the excuse, but the justification used at the time that they posed a threat to the west was a mistake, imho)

Hence the wait for a full UN resolution this time, talking up the inclusion of the Arab League etc.
