Hello there!!! ;-)
Hi there people.
I was introduced to this place by kidd75219. I've only got a few weeks left and i can apply to become a full member. I can't wait to see what delights await me in the other forums. This looks like a great site (and was heartily recommended by Randy), and i look forward to being able to give as much help as i get in the beginning, once i start to learn.
I'm totally new to web design, SEO, and everything PC related. So far its been a struggle to get things going with my site, but i'm SLOOOWWLLLYY getting there. It will take a while to pick up the skills i need, but i'm sure i'll get there. I'm a fairly knowledgeable casino player, and so hope i can add some unique players perspective content.
Could anyone have a look at my site and perhaps give me some advice if possible? I'd really appreciate that. Please be kind (but brutal too if you know what i mean)! This is new territory for me and i know i have a lot to learn........
Finally i know i have to start link exchanges aggressively (amongst 101 other things).
Has anyone got any advice about how to start out with that in the best way? If anyone here would like to give me a start (and get me off PR 0), i'd love to exchange links please.
Thanks
Harv
ps-I wont be another 1 post wonder.

Welcome to the board Harv
You have got off to a pretty good start with your site.
I am no fundi on web design but just a few little tips that may help.
Create a links page - or a few pages and get them up on the web , even if you don't have any links yet because they will then get a PR much quicker once you do start adding links.
On your blacklisted page - you should put a hyperlink to casinomeister/rogue casinos ( not that Casino Meister is particularly liked here - but I find he's ok )
Your software reviews link from the blacklisted casinos isn't working
Just a suggestion - Perhaps you should list a few microgaming and playtech casinos on your software reviews page too , so that people can click directly into them if they like what they see.
Hope that little bit of info helps , and to help you along - I am prepared to give you a few PR5 frontpage links just to give you a shove in the right direction

Thanks topboss.
I'll make those changes asap. Please PM me the details you would like me to put on my link...

Hi Harv. Glad to see you here. Isn't Heather a sweetheart?
Check out Linksmanager. Your first month is free and you get a free month for each referral that completes the first billing cycle. We use it here to display the member sites. It is a very good tool if used correctly. You will also automatically be signed up with Linkpartners.com
If this interests you, please use the link here at GPWA. We always appreciate a free month's service.

Hi Randy.
I'm seriously thinking about linksmanager. I've still got your PM with the link for a free month for you. If and when i sign up, a free month will be yours mate
.
I was just thinking that linksmanager is great for getting other people to link with you when you're starting to get big. When you're lowly me, you'll be asking everyone else via linksmanager on their site.
Would it be better to wait or is it still worth going for it now?
Also many people here have multiple sites. I've just bought my second domain. The cost of linksmanger must add up over many sites.
Thanks Harvey
ps Actually, if you cant afford it for a new site, perhaps you shouldn't be getting a new site!

Hi Harvey and welcome to the board.
The site looks good, but I did have one small problem. There's quite a lot of text there and while I was reading it, my eyes kept getting pulled to the dice and spinning coins. Both of these are without links as well. Did anyone else have this problem, if so it might be costing you surfers.

Thanks acefun, that's a fair point. I'm working on that at the minute actually
. The unfinished new version is here;
www.ukplayersguide.co.uk/index2
Do you think that's better?
I thought with the moving images your eyes are pulled away as you say. Also i believe it pushes the key parts of the code i'll want the search engines to read further down. Once i've got it fully sorted, i'll be changing to the new version.

The other thing i'm worried about is the time it takes to load. I'm on a 1.5Mb connection, so it's no problems for me. Of course for people on dial up, my site might be a complete turn off before it loads.
